Vivo Y83 announced with 6.22-inch display, Android 8.1 Oreo

Chinese smartphone maker Vivo today announced a new budget device dubbed as the Vivo Y83 at an event in China. The device is the first smartphone in the world to be powered by the recently announced Helio P22 SoC.

The Vivo Y83 is priced at CNY 1498 and will be available in Aurora White, Black and Red color options. The device runs on Android 8.1 Oreo and features a 13MP primary camera. The device comes with a notch at the top.

The Vivo Y83 runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with Funtouch OS 4.0 skinned on top. The device features a 6.22 inch HD+ IPS display with a resolution of 1520 x 720 pixels and an aspect ratio of 19:9.

The device is powered by the octa core MediaTek Helio P22 processor coupled with IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU. In terms of memory, the device comes with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 256GB via a microSD card.


Coming to the camera department, the Vivo Y83 features a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture and an LED flash. On the front, the device sports an 8MP secondary camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The Vivo Y83 is powered by a 3,260mAh battery. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz / 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS, 3.5mm audio jack and FM Radio.

The Vivo Y83 has been priced at CNY 1498 and it is available in Aurora White, Black and Red color options.
