Samsung Galaxy A9 Star, Star Lite leak: 6.28-inch Infinity display, dual cameras, more

A new Samsung smartphone with model number SM-G8850 has been certified by TENAA in China last month and it was said that it would be launched as Galaxy A9 Star. Now, the live images and a video of the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star / Star Lite have surfaced in China on Weibo that confirm some of the features of the phones.

As per the leaked live images, Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and A9 Star Lite seem to be mid-range phones with some premium features like a glass back, dual rear cameras, and the Infinity display. Both the phones feature the same specs, however, they could differ in terms of hardware. The Galaxy A9 Star could come with Snapdragon 660 while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite could pack Snapdragon 450.

Both the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and Star Lite are expected to come with a similar screen size of 6.28-inch. Notably, it could be an FHD+ (1080×2220 pixels) Super AMOLED Infinity display with 18.5:9 aspect ratio. The phones will run on Android 8.0 Oreo.

The Galaxy A9 Star will pack an octa-core Snapdragon 660 processor with Adreno 512 GPU while the Galaxy A9 Star Lite might pack an Octa-Core Snapdragon 450 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. There will be at least 4GB LPDDR4x RAM, and 64GB internal storage, which will be expandable up to 256GB.


Coming to the camera, there could be a dual rear camera setup with a 24MP primary rear camera with LED Flash and a 16MP secondary rear camera. There will be a 24MP front-facing camera for selfies. There is back mounted Fingerprint sensor below rear camera module.

Dimensions of the phone are 162.4 × 77.0 × 7.55 mm and it weighs 188 grams. Connectivity options on the device include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2.4/5GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS with GLONASS. The phones could pack a 3,700mAh battery with fast charging support.

Both the Samsung Galaxy A9 Star and Galaxy A9 Star Lite might come in Black and White colors. Both the mid-range phones are expected to go official in early June though there is no confirmation from the company as of now.
