Moto Z3 Play with 18:9 display, dual rear cameras launched: Price, specifications

After several renders and leaks, Motorola has finally announced the Moto Z3 Play smartphone. The latest mid-range phone in the Moto Z series comes with support for Moto Mods just like previous models and also features latest features such as 18:9 display, Snapdragon 636 chipset, and dual rear cameras with AI features.

Motorola has again adopted the same design pattern just like the previous model Moto Z2 Play. The new Moto Z3 Play comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection on the front and back, and is built using a lightweight, and aircraft-grade 6000 series aluminum frame. Though, it has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and the gesture-based Navigation bar at the bottom.

Coming to the specs, Moto Z3 Play sports a 6-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It comes with Moto Mod support for all the Moto Mods that were launched earlier. The phone also has a water-repellent nano-coating and is splash-resistant with p2i technology.

Coming to the hardware, it is powered by a 1.8GHz Octa-Core Snapdragon 636 processor with Adreno 509 GPU. It packs 4GB RAM with 32GB or 64GB storage which is expandable up to 2TB with microSD. The phone runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.


For imaging, it has dual rear cameras with a 12MP primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, 1.4um pixel size, and a secondary 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture. Up front, there is an 8MP front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture. The rear camera comes with depth-sensing AI photo features, including Cinemagraphs and support for Google Lens as well.

The Dual SIM phone has 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C as connectivity options. The phone has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, front port loudspeaker, 4 far-field mic system, and USB Type-C audio. It is powered by a 3000mAh battery with Turbocharging support.

Dimensions of the Moto Z3 Play are 156.5 x 76.5 x 6.7mm and its weight is 156g.

Moto Z3 Play pricing and availability

The Moto Z3 Play is priced at 2,299 Brazilian Real (Rs. 40,157 approx.). The phone comes in Deep Indigo color and it will roll out globally this month starting from Brazil. Motorola is also bundling a battery Moto Mod that costs $499 (Rs. 33,335 approx.) for free along with the box.
