List of Xiaomi phones to get Single Camera Portrait Mode with MIUI 10 update

With the announcement of MIUI 10, Xiaomi has introduced a slew of new features for lots of Xiaomi devices. The latest version of the company’s own OS has been designed with the focus on enhanced photography, full-screen display gestures, and an overall faster experience, among others.

One of the most talked about feature of MIUI 10 is the AI Single Camera Portrait Mode. With this feature, old Xiaomi phones having a single camera can capture images with bokeh effect without the need for a dual camera setup.

Recently at the launch of Redmi Y2 in India, Xiaomi has unveiled the MIUI 10 Global ROM version. Alongside, they also announced the Xioami phones that will get the single-camera portrait mode support with MIUI 10 update, thanks to the AI portrait feature.

MIUI 10 AI Portrait Feature

MIUI 10 Global ROM gets AI Portrait feature that adds bokeh effect to your photos. The company used thousands of photos with deep machine learning to achieving AI Portrait Mode in single camera phones by identifying foreground and blurring the background. The feature will initially be available for the front camera and later be released for the rear camera as well.

The company along with the Xiaomi Redmi Y2 in India also confirmed a list of devices that would receive single-camera portrait mode support. The devices in the list below will allow users to capture portrait shots from both the front and rear single cameras:

The company also promised that Redmi Note 5 (India) will get ‘portrait mode’ for the front camera only.

Xiaomi further adds that more devices compatible with ‘AI portraits’ feature will be announced very soon with the release of MIUI 10. While all other devices will receive the upgrade to MIUI 10 Beta as per the scheduled mentioned in below picture.

If you have either the Mi Mix 2 or the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, you can try out this new version of MIUI which is available as an internal beta version currently.
