OnePlus 6 gets Selfie Camera Portrait Mode and more with OxygenOS 5.1.6 Update

OnePlus 6 gets selfie camera portrait mode with newly-released OxygenOS update. The latest update brings version OxygenOS 5.1.6 and it will start rolling out in India and other parts of the world in the next couple of days. Apart from selfie portrait mode, the update also brings a battery percentage option, bug fixes, and more.

To recall, OnePlus 6 was launched with OxygenOS 5.1.4 and received two updates since then. The previous update brought bug fixes and other improvements. Now, the OxygenOS 5.1.6 update comes with further improvements and new features such as the selfie portrait mode. This feature will allow OnePlus 6 users to click pictures with depth-of-field or Bokeh effects with the front camera.

The update Portrait Mode for the front camera and also added a preview for Light Bokeh effect in Portrait Mode of the rear camera. Notably, the front camera portrait mode works similar to the rear camera portrait mode and blurs the background.

For networks, it brings Idea VoLTE services support in India and fixed stability issues for Dual Sim cards. Other features include Optimized call clarity, supported battery percentage in the status bar, improved ringtone volume and sound quality, Do Not Disturb (DND) mode scheduling, added Dual-4G network option in SIM & network settings and Smart Answer for Bluetooth.


The OxygenOS 5.1.6 which is 221 MB in size, is available for all users and they can check it by heading to Settings->System Update.

Now, the 16-megapixel front camera with f/2.0 aperture on OnePlus 6 can click dual camera like images. For the rear camera, it packs a dual camera setup with a primary 16MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture, OIS and a secondary 20MP sensor with f/1.7 aperture.

The OnePlus 6 runs OxygenOS based on Android 8.1 Oreo and sports a 6.28-inch FHD+ (1080×2280 pixels) Full Optic AMOLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio and protected by Gorilla Glass 5. It is powered by a Snapdragon 845 SoC coupled with either 6GB or 8GB of RAM and Adreno 630 GPU.  The OnePlus 6 packs a 3300mAh battery with the company’s Dash Charge fast charging.

The OnePlus 6 will be available in three storage variants – 64GB, 128GB, and 256GB and these are not expandable via microSD card. OnePlus 6 price in India starts at Rs. 34,999 for the 6GB RAM/ 64GB storage variant, while the 8GB RAM/ 128GB variant costs Rs. 39,999.
