Qualcomm announces Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 mobile processors

Qualcomm Technologies has announced three new processors in its Snapdragon 600 and 400 series at MWC Shanghai today. The Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 are the new mobile platforms that are designed to offer better performance and battery life, impressive graphics and artificial intelligence (AI) features into the budget and mid-range segment.

Qualcomm, with these new chipsets, brings premium technology advancements to lower Snapdragon tiers. As of March 31, 2018, more than 1350 devices based on Snapdragon 600-tier processors and more than 2,300 devices based on Snapdragon 400 series processors have been announced by OEMs. Now, these new SoCs bring major improvements to already feature-rich platforms.

Snapdragon 632

The new Snapdragon 632 comes with some of the most sought-after features, including gaming, 4K recording, AI, and fast LTE speeds. It is built on advanced FinFET process technology and has the combination of the Qualcomm Kryo 250 CPUs and Adreno 506 GPU. It is designed to achieve 40% higher performance than Snapdragon 625/626.

For camera features, it can support either a single 24MP single-camera or 13MP dual cameras. It can scale up to FHD+ display resolution. For cellular speeds, the Snapdragon 632 includes the X9 LTE modem, which supports LTE Advanced technologies.


Snapdragon 439 and 429

The Snapdragon 439 and 429 Mobile Platforms are designed to deliver popular mobile features for the budget segment. Both platforms are equipped with AI capabilities that enhance the camera, voice, and security experience. The SD 439 and 429 are also built with FinFET technology advancements and offer improved CPU performance and power efficiency by 25% than the SD 430 and SD 425 respectively.

They both feature the X6 LTE modem for fast downloads and seamless web browsing. The Snapdragon 439 is equipped with an octa-core CPU and packs the Adreno 505 GPU. The Snapdragon 429 comes with an Adreno 504 GPU, and it has a quadcore CPU. Snapdragon 439 supports 21MP single-camera and 8+8MP dual-cameras and FHD+ display. While the Snapdragon 429 supports 16MP single-camera and 8+8MP dual-cameras and an HD+ display.

The smartphones based on Snapdragon 632, 439 and 429 are expected to be launched in the second half of this year.
