Design: Glass and Metal body

On the design front, the most noticeable difference between the two phones is the notch. Vivo NEX sets off a new design language that removes the notch to offer an Ultra FullView display. Vivo NEX is a futuristic phone which completely changes the design of the bezel-less smartphones while boasting an impressive 91.24% screen-to-body ratio.

Vivo NEX also uses the in-display fingerprint scanner tech which is likely an added feature to the user experience. While OnePlus 6 has a traditional fingerprint scanner on the back.

The OnePlus 6 is water resistant, but it is only limited to resist water splashes. On the other hand, the Vivo NEX has no such protection. Vivo’s offering also lacks the face unlock feature, which is found on OnePlus 6.

Display: Full Screen Vs Notch

Vivo NEX

Vivo NEX has a huge 6.59-inch bezel-less display with FHD+ (2,316 x 1,080 pixels) resolution. It is a Super AMOLED panel that uses the 19.3:9 aspect ratio. The OnePlus 6, on the other hand, is among the notch display phones. It has a 6.28-inch Optic AMOLED display that also comes with FHD+ resolution (2280 x 1080 pixels) and 19:9 aspect ratio. Except for the notch, the OnePlus 6’s display looks stunning, however, NEX’s display is also quite good.

Cameras

Starting with the front camera, there is an 8 MP selfie camera with f/2.0 on the NEX which is popped out when you open the camera app and retracts when you close or switch the camera. While there is a 16MP f/2.0 front camera in OnePlus 6.

If we talk about selfie camera quality, it can be slightly better on the Vivo NEX since it’s niche is in the selfie-centric phones, however, OnePlus 6 also clicks good selfies. The only difference here is that OnePlus does the color correction which makes the selfie a little bit overexposed.

Coming to the rear camera, the Vivo NEX offers a 12 MP (f/1.8) + 5 MP (f/2.4) dual cameras. While the OnePlus 6 has a 16 MP + 20 MP (both f/1.7) combination. Both the cameras click good pictures. If we talk about added features, both the phones have OIS, portrait mode and 4K recording as well.

OnePlus 6 records 4K videos at 60 fps while Vivo NEX can record 4K videos at 30 fps only.

Hardware: Same Snapdragon 845

Both the phones have adopted Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 845 chipset that promises fast performance and smoother graphics. The Vivo NEX packs 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. While the top-end model of OnePlus 6 offers 256GB storage with 8GB of RAM.

Basically, both the phones are similar in terms of hardware and performance. Though their benchmark scores do not match, their performance is almost similar.

Software: Funtouh OS Vs Oxygen OS

Software-wise, the interface on both the phones is different despite running the Android 8.1 Oreo. The OnePlus 6 runs with stock features and it is skinned with Oxygen OS on top. While Vivo NEX has its FunTouch OS 4.0 which is a modified Android version. If you don’t like bloatware and want a cleaner Android experience, OnePlus 6 is here a better deal.

Both the OS come with a number of features, with OnePlus’ interface offering more stock like features, although the choice of UI largely depends on the user preference.

Battery and Connectivity

The OnePlus 6 offers a 3,300 mAh battery while the Vivo NEX has a huge 4,000 mAh battery. When it comes to fast charging, both the phones come with fast charging support.

Vivo NEX Battery Tech

When it comes to connectivity, both the smartphones do not have the microSD card slots. They have the usual Wi-Fi, 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth, micro USB port and 3.5mm audio jack options. They also come with all the needed sensors, but the NEX skips the NFC, which is available on the OP6.

Conclusion

Coming to the conclusion, which phone is better? The performance on both the phones is similar, and the difference is the price. Overall, both the phones are are solid that deliver value for your money. Hence, it all boils down to the personal preference. If you want a true bezel-less design without a notch, futuristic features like pop-up selfie camera and in-display fingerprint scanner, as well as the flagship level performance, Vivo NEX is a good deal.
