Honor Play Special Edition with Laser Engraved Lines to Launch on August 1

Honor has announced a new smartphone Honor Play Special Edition in China. It is the special edition of Honor Play that was lanched recently in China. The Honor Play Special Edition comes with a laser engraved lined back in two colors options– Black and Red.

Honor Play’s Special Edition variant has laser engraving on the back panel as you can see in the image below. Both the red and black variants have lines running from the bottom to the top and red accents around the camera and the fingerprint sensor. The specs of the special edition phone are similar to regular Honor Play.

Honor Play Specifications

Honor Play sports a 6.3-inch FHD+(1080 x 2340) IPS LCD display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a notch on top. The smartphone is powered by Kirin 970 octa-core processor that is coupled with a dedicated NPU for AI features. Also, it comes with Huawei’s GPU Turbo tech for smooth gaming. It comes in 4GB/6GB RAM and 64GB storage.

For imaging, it has a vertical dual rear camera with a 16MP primary sensor (f/2.2 aperture) and a 2MP secondary sensor (f/2.4 aperture). The camera supports various AI features like AI Scene Detection and AI Portrait Mode. For selfies, there is a 16MP camera on the front.


Connectivity options will include Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac dual-band, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C. The device packs a 3750mAh battery with fast charging support. It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo with EMUI 8.2 on top.

Price, Availability

Honor Play Special Edition variant is priced at 2,499 yuan (Rs.25,100 approx.). It will be up for sale on August 1 via Jingdong, Tmall, and other major e-com platforms in China.

Honor Play India Launch, Expected Price

Honor India is also all set to launch its Honor Play smartphone in India on August 6. It will be as an Amazon-exclusive phone in India. The regular Honor Play price starts at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 21,000) for the 4GB variant in China and we expect it to be launched in India at a slightly lower price.
