Honor 9N, Honor 9 Lite and Honor 7X will get the GPU Turbo Beta update from July 31

Huawei has announced a new technology for smartphones to boost the gaming performance called GPU Turbo. It is a software optimization for the actual GPU of the smartphone which lowers the power consumption without reducing the gaming performance.

The latest report is that Huawei has started the beta update rollout of the GPU Turbo for four smartphones; Huawei P20 Pro, Huawei P20, Mate 10 and the Mate 10 Pro. The GPU Turbo beta update budget smartphones including the Honor 9i, Honor 9 Lite, and Honor 7X will begin in China from July 31.

What is the GPU Turbo?

Huawei has made this software to make the gaming performance in Huawei smartphone smoother than before. This is just a software implementation which kind of grabs couple of extra frames of the game from the GPU so GPU won’t get that much stressed out.

The GPU Turbo API works between the GPU and the game to make this thing power efficient too. The GPU Turbo also save more battery without reducing the performance or the graphics of the game at the same time. Huawei claims that GPU Turbo will improve the graphics processing efficiency by 60 percent and reduce the power consumption by 30 percent.

Once the testing is complete, the update will roll out for other devices in China. The global variants of these smartphones including India will get the update soon after the China rollout.
