7 Upcoming Smartphones in India in August 2018

If you’re planning to buy a new smartphone in the coming days, you should wait for the August to end as this month could be very exciting. This will not only bring much-awaited devices like Xiaomi Mi A2 to India, but some flagship devices will also be launched.

Apart from Xiaomi, Honor will launch its Honor Play, Samsung will bring its flagship Galaxy Note 9, and Oppo will unveil F9 Pro in India this month only. There will be some other smartphones that might also be launched anytime soon.

Here are the top 7 upcoming smartphones in India in August 2018.

Honor Play

Honor India has teased the launch of a new flagship smartphone in India dubbed as Honor Play. The Honor Play will be launched in India on August 6 as an Amazon exclusive. The company has already launched the Honor Play in China back in June.

If we talk about features, it packs a 6.3-inch FHD+ 19.5:9 display with a notch and 89% screen-to-body ratio, is powered by Kirin 970 processor with dedicated NPU as well as GPU Turbo. Honor will launch only the 6GB RAM with 64GB storage version of the smartphone here which is available in China for 2399 yuan (Rs. 24,360 approx.).

Xiaomi Mi A2

Xiaomi has introduced its Mi A2 Android One smartphone as the successor to the last year’s Mi A1 at an event in Spain last week. Xiaomi has announced that the Mi A2 will be launched in India on August 8 exclusively via Amazon.in. It is an Android One smartphone that runs stock Android Oreo 8.1. Other highlights of the phone are 5.9-inch FHD+ 18:9 display, Snapdragon 660 processor with up to 6GB RAM, 12MP+20MP dual rear camera and 20MP front camera.

Oppo F9 Pro

OPPO has also teased the launch of Oppo F9 Pro which is upcoming mid-range smartphones in its ‘F series’ in India. The teaser shows F9 Pro will sport a new waterdrop notch display like Essential smartphones and dual rear cameras.

The rumored specs of Oppo F9 Pro are a 6.3-inch OLED display with a 19:9 aspect ratio, dual rear cameras, Helio P60 Processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage and a 3415mAh battery.

Galaxy Note 9

Samsung will launch the Galaxy Note 9 on August 9 in New York and it is also to come to India very soon as Flipkart has teased the launch of the phone. Apart from the launch date, Samsung hasn’t revealed much about the upcoming Note 9. However, as per past rumors, the Galaxy Note 9 is expected to come with a 6.4-inch QHD+ Super AMOLED Infinity Display, dual rear cameras, Exynos 9810 SoC with up to 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB storage and a big battery.

Motorola One Power

Motorola is said to be working on an Android One smartphone line-up to replace the Moto X series that got canceled. In this series, the Motorola One Power Android One smartphone has surfaced in live images and has also been certified by TENAA revealing its specs.

The listing reveals it will come with a 6.18-inch FHD+ 19:9 aspect ratio notch display, 1.8GHz Octa-Core SoC which should be Snapdragon 636, up to 6GB RAM, 16MP+5MP dual rear cameras, and a 4850mAh battery. Motorola One Power is expected to be launched at an event in Chicago on August 2 along with the Moto Z3 series.

Lenovo Z5

Lenovo has announced it’s latest mid-range smartphone in the ‘Z series’ in China back in June dubbed as Lenovo Z5. The company teased it as a bezel-less smartphone and it has a 6.2-inch FHD+ notch display with 19:9 aspect ratio and 90% screen-to-body ratio. It is powered by Snapdragon 636 with 6GB of RAM, runs Android 8.1 Oreo with ZUI on top.

For imaging, it has a 16MP+ 8MP dual rear cameras to capture depth in portrait shots and an 8MP front camera with AI and face unlock features. Lenovo Z5 is priced at 1299 yuan (Rs. 13,625 approx.) in China and is expected to be priced around the same in India.

Nokia X6, Nokia X5

HMD Global announced the first smartphone in the ‘Nokia X’ series in China back in July. The global version of the Nokia X6 smartphone was launched as Nokia 6.1 Plus in Hong Kong with Android One. This Android One model will be launched in India as well.

If we talk about features, it has a 5.8-inch FHD+ display with a notch, is powered by Snapdragon 636 with up to 6GB RAM, runs stock Android 8.1 Oreo. It has a 16MP+5MP dual rear camera with AI portrait and a 16MP front camera with AI selfies and face unlock.

Nokia X5

HMD Global has also announced Nokia X5 in the ‘X series’ in China. The Nokia X5 comes with a 5.86-inch HD+ 19:9 aspect ratio display, is powered by MediaTek Helio P60 with up to 6GB of RAM, and stock runs Android 8.1 Oreo OS. It sports a 13MP+5MP rear cameras for AI portrait shots and an 8MP front camera. This phone is also expected to come to India anytime soon, however, HMD hasn’t revealed anything officially yet.

Apart from the above-mentioned phones, there could be some other phones which could be launched in India this month. Also, some of these phones could not be immediately launched in India and might shift to September or later. We will update you about the same when the respective launch happens.
