Moto Z3 with 5G Moto Mod Launched: Price, Specifications

Motorola has announced the Moto Z3, the company’s latest smartphone at an event in Chicago, USA. The Moto Z series flagship phone comes with support for proprietary Moto Mods and the company has announced 5G Moto Mods along with the phone.

Other highlights of the phone include a 6-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED 18:9 display, Snapdragon 835 SoC, dual rear cameras,  AI photo features, water repellent nano-coating
the side-mounted fingerprint sensor and much more.

Moto Z3 Specifications

The Moto Z3 sports a 6-inch FHD+ (1080 x 2160 pixels) Super AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. It doesn’t have a home button at the bottom and similar to Moto Z3 Play it has one-button navigation and supports Moto Display, Moto Actions.

It is made of lightweight aircraft-grade 6000 series aluminum frame and also sports a water-repellent P2i coating to protect it from splashes. It has a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It sports front firing loudspeaker, 4 far-field mic system, and USB Type-C audio.


It is powered by a Snapdragon 835 processor with Adreno 540 GPU, 4GB RAM, and 64GB storage which is also expandable up to 2TB with microSD. The phone runs Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box.

In terms of optics, it sports dual rear camera with two 12MP (monochrome + RGB) sensors with f/2.0 aperture, 1.25um pixel size, Laser Autofocus, dual LED flash, depth-sensing AI photo features, and support for Google Lens. There is an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture, wide-angle 84° lens, and screen flash.

Connectivity options include 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11 ac (2.4 GHz + 5 GHz), Bluetooth 5 LE, GPS, NFC, and USB Type-C. It packs a 3000mAh battery with Turbocharging support.

Motorola has also introduced new 5G Moto Mod which comes with 2000mAh battery. It makes the Z3 world’s first 5G upgradable smartphone and it will get access to Verizon’s 5G Network when it launches in 2019. The company has also partnered with Qualcomm to enable the next-gen network access on the Moto Z3. The new Moto Mod will use a Snapdragon X50 modem to 5G access on Verizon.

Price, Availability

The Moto Z3 is priced at $480 (₹ 32,940 approx.) in retail or at $20 a month for 24 months exclusively through Verizon starting August 16. The phone comes in Ceramic Black color. The 5G Moto Mod will be available in the US in early 2019.
