7 exciting features of Huawei Mate 20 Pro you should know

Huawei launched it’s much-awaited Mate 20 series smartphones last week in London. The Huawei Mate 20 Pro is the most premium in the series and it is also coming to India very soon as an Amazon exclusive. If we recall the key features of Mate 20 Pro, it comes with 19.5:9 aspect ratio notch display, triple rear cameras, 7nm Kirin 980 chipset, and SuperCharge technology.

Apart from above-mentioned features, the new Huawei flagship has several new technologies. Here we have listed top 7 features of the Mate 20 Pro that you should know about.

In-display Fingerprint Scanner

The in-display fingerprint scanning technology has not something very new now. A number of smartphones from Vivo and Oppo already got this feature, and another phone OnePlus 6T is about to come with it. Now, Huawei also comes with the in-display fingerprint scanner for it’s Mate 20 Pro flagship.

Nano-Memory Card

You’ll get 128GB of internal storage with the option of expansion up to 256GB. However, you cannot use regular MicroSD card in Mate 20 Pro. Huawei introduced a new proprietary nano-memory card which replaces the traditional microSD card. Huawei says that NM cards are identical in size and shape to a Nano SIM card and 45 percent smaller than a microSD card. The NM card will come in at least 256GB storage option and with 90MB/s transfer speed.

IP 68 Water Resistant

The Mate 20 Pro is also able to survive water splashes and even if you slip your phone into the pool. It comes with IP68-rated water and dust resistance which means it can be submerged in up to 1.5 meters of fresh water for half an hour.

7nm Kirin 980 Chipset

The Mate 20 series is the first Huawei phones to come with the new Kirin 980 chipset. The new eight-core processor is one of the first chipsets built on the 7-nanometer process. It consists of four little cores for low-intensity tasks, two middle cores for mid-level apps, and two advanced cores for the most demanding apps and games. Huawei claims that the new processor boosts speed by 20 percent and is power efficient by 40 percent in comparison to the Kirin 970. Moreover, it also has two neural processing units (NPUs) for AI tasks.

40W SuperCharge

The Mate 20 Pro comes with a huge 4,200mAh battery. But it supports Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charging tech. Huawei claims that the 40W charger included with the Mate 20 Pro can charge up to 70 percent battery in just 30 minutes. Moreover, it also gets 15W fast wireless charging support.

Triple Camera

As mentioned above, there are three Leica lenses on the back of the Mate 20 Pro including a wide-angle lens, an ultra wide-angle lens, and a telephoto lens. There is a 40-megapixel wide-angle lens with f/1.8 aperture, a 20-megapixel ultra wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, and an 8-megapixel 3x telephoto zoom lens with OIS and f/2.2 aperture.

3D Face Unlock

There is a 24-megapixel selfie lens at the front and it also comes with a 3D face unlocking feature. Huawei uses 3D depth-sensing tech just like the iPhone XS. The display notch on the Mate 20 Pro has an infrared camera, dot projector, and time-of-flight proximity sensors to enable this feature. The unlocking speed is good, and it also recognizes your face if you’re wearing a hat, or have grown a beard.

The Huawei Mate 20 Pro comes at a price tag of 1,049 euros (roughly Rs. 88580). There is no word on when the Mate 20 Pro will be releasing in India, but it seems not so long as Amazon India has already teased it. We’ll keep you updated about Mate 20 Pro price and availability in India as soon it gets official here.
