The Huawei Mate 20 Pro was launched in India today. It is one of the most feature-rich smartphones available today. Here we’ve covered some tips and tricks about the new flagship device to help you know it a little bit better.

If you are planning to buy the new Huawei Mate 20 Pro, it is better to know the phone in a better way. The Mate 20 Pro runs EMUI 9.0 over the top of Android 9.0 Pie OS, so it could be a little different compared to other Android phones. The EMUI has its own set of tips and tricks that we listed here.

Gesture Control

Huawei has included gesture controls in EMUI 9.0 on the Mate 20 Pro but they are not active by default. To activate them, open Settings->System->System Navigation. There are three choices- Gestures, Three-key navigation, and Navigation dock. You can select the gestures as per your convenience.

Moreover, you can also change the home screen style and bring back app drawer. You need to open Settings->Home Screen & Wallpaper->Home Screen Style. There will be two options- the standard Huawei setting for apps across the screen, or the app Drawer option.

Display features

The Mate 20 Pro’s OLED panel supports always-on display feature. You can see the time, battery, and notifications on the lock screen itself. This is turned off as default and to enable it, go to Settings->Home Screen & Wallpaper-> Always-on Display.

The Mate 20 Pro also has Smart Resolution feature which lowers the screen resolution to help save the battery power. Go to Settings->Display->Screen Resolution to set up the resolution as per your choice. You can also deselect the Display Carrier Name and Display Network Speed options in more display settings for more notification space.

Camera features

The camera is the main highlight of the phone and it has numerous features. Starting with the Super Macro Mode, it can capture super small pictures. Open the camera app, tap on the zoom settings in the viewfinder to the 0.6x wide-angle mode. Now, move close to your subject about 2.5cm away and wait for the AI to activate the Super Macro mode.

The AI features are particularly active in the camera but it’s possible to turn them off completely if you like to see results without it. For this, open the camera app, tap the cog in the top right corner and look for the Master A.I. and toggle it off. The phone also has Pro mode that also supports DNG raw files. There is a Night mode, capturing a burst of images, Slo-Mo, AR lens, underwater shooting and more.

Battery

You can also optimize battery usage. Go to Settings and Battery. Now, swipe down from the top of the screen and there are four battery modes. You can select [ower saving or ultra power saving modes to save battery. You can also select the battery percentage whether it shows next to battery icon or inside it.

The Mate 20 Pro can also charge other devices wirelessly that support Qi wireless charging. To use this features, first make sure that your device has wireless charging support. Now, on the Mate 20 Pro, go to Settings->Battery->Wireless Reverse Charging and tap it to activate.

Smart Assistance

The Mate 20 Pro also has smart assistance features that include HiTouch, One-handed UI, Motion Control with Knuckle Gestures, Voice Control, and Glove modes. Go to the Settings->Smart Assistance.

These gestures are EMUI’s special features. You can perform several tasks and open apps by using a hard knuckle. You can even write on the screen with a softer knuckle to open some specific apps.

These were some of EMUI’s special features that we tested on the new Mate 20 Pro. You can use these features with EMUI 9.0 to get the best out of your Mate 20 Pro.
