Nokia 8.1 launched in India for Rs. 26,999: Features, specifications

Nokia 8.1 finally launched in India today at an event in New Delhi. To recall, it is the global variant of the Nokia X7 that was launched in China back in October and was first launched globally in Dubai last week. The highlights of the Nokia 8.1 include its PureDisplay with HDR10 support, dual rear cameras with Zeiss optics, Snapdragon 710 SoC chipset, and Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box.

Nokia 8.1 Price in India

The Nokia 8.1 price in India is Rs 26,999 for the 4GB RAM and 64GB internal storage model. HMD will also launch a 6GB+128GB variant in India very soon. The smartphone will be available via Nokia online store, Amazon India starting December 21. The pre-orders are already open on Nokia Mobile Store. You can also get it from offline retailers as well.

Nokia 8.1 Specifications

If we talk about specs, the Nokia 8.1 sports a 6.18-inch FHD+ (2246×1080) notched display with 18.7:9 aspect ratio. It is an HDR display that the company calls PureDisplay and it was first used in the Nokia 7.1. It offers a high contrast ratio and sharp colors with HDR10 support.

Under the hood, the handset is powered by Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 710 10nm octa-core SoC. It is paired with 4GB of LPDDR4x RAM and 64GB of internal storage that is expandable up to 400GB via microSD card. The Nokia 8.1 runs Android 9.0 Pie out-of-the-box and since it is an Android One device, it will get faster OS and security updates.


In the camera department, there is a dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics having a 12MP primary camera with 1.4-micron pixels, OIS, EIS, dual-LED flash, and a 13MP secondary camera. It sports a 20MP selfie camera with 4-in-1 pixel tech for better low-light selfies. It also supports Nokia‘s Bothie feature that allows using both the cameras side by side.

On the connectivity front, the phone supports 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5.0, GPS/AGPS + GLONASS. The device is powered by a 3,500mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The phone also has Google ARCore support.
