After revealing the prototype in November last year, Samsung has now officially launched its foldable phone dubbed as Galaxy Fold at yesterday’s event. The Galaxy Fold comes with a 7.3-inch Dynamic AMOLED Infinity Flex Display which folds into a compact 4.6-inch cover display.
The new Galaxy Fold is also powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset with 12GB of RAM. It also comes with a triple rear camera set up and dual front cameras just like the S10+. Moreover, it has a cover display front camera. The Galaxy Fold packs two batteries with a total of 4,380mAh capacity.
Galaxy Fold Features
Samsung says that the Galaxy Fold sports the largest-ever display in a Samsung phone. It has been in development since last eight years after the first prototype was showcased in 2011.
The company used a polymer layer to make the display around 50% thinner than the typical smartphone. It also makes the Galaxy Fold flexible and sturdy. There is a hidden hinge that has a Samsung logo and comes with interlocking gears for seamless folding. It has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner to unlock the device easily.
The Galaxy Fold’s UX has been optimized for a better experience. The new UX comes with several features like App Continuity that will automatically show the app where you left it when you open and close the display. It also has a Multi-Active Window feature that lets you open up to 3 apps at a time on the main display for better multitasking.
