MWC 2019: Xiaomi announces Mi Mix 3 5G; Price, availability and more

Xiaomi announced it’s first 5G smartphone Mi Mix 3 5G just ahead of MWC 2019 event. The company had already promised the Mi Mix 3 5G back in October during the Mi Mix 3 launch in China. The new model packs the same Snapdragon 855 chipset but comes with Qualcomm’s X50 5G modem to offer the 5G connectivity.

Other features of the new Mi Mix 3 5G remain the same including an AMOLED display, dual rear cameras, dual front cameras and 3,800mAh battery. The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G also sports a similar ceramic design. It will be available in select markets starting from May 2019.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 5G Specifications

The new Mi Mix 3 5G sports a similar 6.39-inch Full HD+ (2340×1080 pixels) display with 19:5:9 aspect ratio and 93.4% screen to body ratio. Under the hood, it is powered by the Snapdragon 855 chipset. It packs 6GB LPDDR4x RAM and up to 128GB UFS 2.1 storage.

In terms of cameras, it sports a 12MP primary rear camera with Sony IMX363 sensor, f/1.8 aperture, 1.4µm pixel size and a 12MP secondary rear camera with 1.0 µm pixel size, f/2.4 aperture, and 2X zoom. The camera also supports 4-axis OIS, Optical zoom, 4K video recording, and 960 fps slo-mo recording. There is a 24MP primary front camera with Sony IMX576 sensor and a secondary 2MP DOF camera with selfie light.

Connectivity options will include 5G Sub6, Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac dual-band (4×4 MU-MIMO), Bluetooth 5, GPS/GLONASS/Beidou, NFC, and USB Type-C. It packs a 3800mAh battery with Quick Charge 4.0+ and 10W Qi wireless charging support. The smartphone runs Android 9.0 Pie with MIUI 10.

Price, availability

The Xiaomi Mi MIX 3 5G price starts at 599 Euros (Rs. 48,260 approx.) for the 6GB/64GB version. The 5G phone will be available in May through Mi.com and retail channels in Europe. Xiaomi has partnered with several mobile network operators in Europe including Orange, Sunrise, Telefonica, and Vodafone etc. to offer the 5G connectivity.
