OPPO has shared images of its upcoming smartphone prototype that reveal the phone with curved edges and having more than the usual screen-to-body ratio. The company calls it ‘Waterfall Screen’ technology.
The upcoming OPPO phone will curved sides at 88° allowing more screen space. It is expected that this could have more than 100% screen-to-body ratio.

The prototype showcased by OPPO doesn’t have a front camera. We expect that the final version may feature the company’s under-screen camera technology. The unannounced phone is expected to launch as OPPO Find X 2nd gen sometime in 2020.
As the company showcased it’s under-display camera tech at the MWC Shanghai 2019 event last month, we expect this launch also soon after the teaser. We possible can learn more details about this ‘Waterfall Screen’ technology at the IFA event in September.
Vivo NEX 3 may also have the same screen
Recently a leak revealed that Vivo is working on its NEX 3 smartphone. And it is also expected to come with almost 90° curved edges and over 100% screen-to-body ratio. The above image is leaked by tipster Ice Universe and you can see the front and back have edges curved at around 90°.
If the latest devices from OPPO and Vivo prototypes really be launched, it will be intriguing to see such a large screen to body ratio. However, there are still many questions that remain unanswered about the design. Will these phones feature a pop-up selfie camera like or an under-screen display? It’s also unclear how the edged screen will be utilized?
