Xiaomi announced Redmi Note 8 series in China today. The company’s latest smartphones in the Note series come with quad cameras and upgraded hardware. The cheaper variant Redmi Note 8 comes with 48MP quad rear camera set up and Snapdragon 665.

Redmi Note 8 Specifications
The new Redmi Note 8 sports a 6.39-inch Full HD+(2340 ×1080 pixels) 19:5:9 aspect ratio display with 90% screen-to-body ratio. The display comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection as well as TÜV Rheinland eye protection certification.
The device is powered by Snapdragon 665 processor with Adreno 610 GPU, same as Mi A3. It packs up to 6GB RAM with up to 128GB storage. The storage is expandable up to 256GB with microSD. The smartphone runs on Android 9.0 (Pie) with MIUI 10.
In the camera department, it sports a quad-camera setup with a 48MP primary camera with Sony IMX586 sensor, f/1.79 aperture, EIS, an 8MP 120° ultra-wide-angle lens, a 2MP depth sensor and a 2MP macro camera for 2cm macro shots.
There is a 13MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.
Connectivity features are Dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 802.11ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS/ GLONASS/ Beidou, Micro USB, 3.5mm audio jack. The phone is powered by a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support.
The Redmi Note 8 sports glass back and comes in Black, Blue, and White colors. It also has a splash-resistant P2i nano-coating. Design-wise, it’s rear-mounted fingerprint scanner is 30% smaller than the Note 7, but it unlocks faster.
Dimensions of the phone are 164.4×75.6×9.3mm and its weight is 198g.
Price & Availability
The Redmi Note 8 price starts at 999 yuan (Rs. 10,000 approx.) for the 4GB + 64GB version. The 6GB + 64GB version is priced at 1199 yuan (Rs. 12,000 approx.) and the 6GB + 128GB model costs 1399 yuan (Rs. 14,000 approx.). It will be available in China from September 17.
