Redmi K30 India Launch: Full Specifications, Price & Availability

Xiaomi is planning to launch Redmi K30 smartphone in China next month. The successor to Redmi K20 will come with some changes in design as well as specs and features. It is expected to feature a dual in-screen camera setup at the front instead of the pop-up mechanism. Moreover, the phone will come in both 4G and 5G variants.

Update: December 6, 2019- Redmi General Manager, Lu Weibing has now confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be the first phone to feature a 64MP Sony IMX686 sensor.

Update: December 4, 2019- Xiaomi confirmed that the Redmi K30 would sport a 6.67-inch display with a 4.38mm hole for front cameras. The phone will have AG frosted glass on the back. Also, it will pack a 4500mAh battery with 30W fast charging support.


Update: December 3, 2019- Now, when only a week has left for the launch of Redmi K30, the company has started dropping more teasers of the phone. In the latest teasers, Redmi has revealed the design of the phone.

It shows quad rear cameras arranged in the center with dual-LED flash. There is also 5G branding on the back.

The phone seems to sport a 3D glass back as well. On the front, there is a dual punch-hole screen with minimal bezels just like we have seen in previous leaks.

Redmi has also confirmed the 5G connectivity for the phone and one of the teasers says that it will be a 2020 5G pioneer.

The company also confirmed that the Redmi K30 will be powered by the next-gen Qualcomm 7-series processor with 5G support. It will likely be the Snapdragon 735 (Snapdragon 7250) as rumored earlier.

Update 1: Xiaomi’s Redmi brand in China has finally confirmed the launch date of the Redmi K30 series of smartphones. The company drops the poster for the launch event that will happen in China on December 10.

The invite poster also confirms some already leaked features of the phone like punch-hole display with dual cameras, and support for 5G stand alone and non-stand alone networks.

Update 2: Now less than two weeks ahead of the launch, an alleged live image of Redmi K30 and key specs of its 4G variant have leaked online.

Redmi K30 Specifications

A tipster on Chinese social media site Weibo has shared the alleged specification sheet of the Redmi K30’s 4G variant.

Design & Display

Redmi K30 is expected to feature a 6.66-inch FHD display with Gorilla Glass 5 protection. Notably, this will be a 120Hz refresh rate panel. The device is said to feature a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, NFC, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

Processor & 5G Support

The Redmi K30 4G variant will reportedly be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 730G SoC paired with up to 6GB of RAM. It will pack at least 64GB of storage.

Furthermore, the Redmi K30 will also come with support for 5G stand alone and non-stand alone networks. After Qualcomm’s announcement about the expansion of 5G support for older 7 Series and 6 Series chipsets in 2020, the K30 5G may use Snapdragon 7 series Mobile Platform. Some rumors have said that it will be powered by a new Snapdragon 735.

Cameras

The Redmi K30 will come with a quad rear camera setup including a 64-megapixel sensor, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, an 8-megapixel telephoto lens, and a 2-megapixel camera. There will be a 20MP primary selfie camera accompanied by a 2MP depth camera on the front.

Battery and Others

The Redmi K30 is expected to pack a 4,500mAh battery with 27W fast charging support. The smartphone is tipped to run on Android 10 with MIUI 11 skin on top.

Price & Availability

As per the leaked information on Weibo, the Redmi K30 4G variant will start at CNY 1,999 (roughly Rs. 20,000) for the 6GB + 64GB configuration. Xiaomi is expected to launch more storage variants of the phone as well. The phone will launch on December 10 in China and it could come to India by the end of December or in early January 2020.
