How to Get Pixel 4 Camera Features on Other Android Smartphones

Google Pixel lineup has always been a benchmark for smartphone cameras. And with the launch of Pixel 4, Google has further enhanced the experience with the addition of several new cool features. That said, do you want to get those on your device? Well, here’s a simple guide on how to get Pixel 4 camera features on other Android smartphones.

Google Pixel 4 brings in a bunch of new camera modes to the table. And since much of it comes from software and artificial intelligence, Google has been able to seed many of those awesome new features to older Pixel phones.

For starters, there’s an improved Night Sight mode, accompanied by an astrophotography mode that allows you to take brighter and clearer pictures of the night’s sky for enhanced visuals of stars, moon, and galaxies. While these features are readily available for Pixel-series, it gets quite tricky to get these on other phones.

Courtesy of developer cstark27, we now have the latest Google Camera 7.2 mod version, ported from Pixel 4, which should work on most of the other Android devices in the market. However, note that it is targetted at devices running Android 10 or later and may not work on older Android versions. And since the Pixel 4 is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Chip, your phone must be running a similar Qualcomm processor for the port to work.

Steps to install Pixel 4 GCam mod on your Android phone:

1] Search for the latest GCam Mod 7.2 or higher (if available) for your device. While we recommend getting the one particularly built for your phone model, below is the list of Pixel 4 camera mods available at the moment.

Download PXv4.0_GoogleCamera_7.2.014.apk   |   Full Download Repository

2] Download the latest version and install it on your phone (you can try multiple builds from the download repository). Allow your browser to install apps from third-party sources if prompted.

3] Once installed, open the app and grant necessary permissions, including storage, camera, microphone, and more.

4] Now, you will have to enable the features you want from the camera settings manually. To open Settings, simply hold down the camera switch shortcut beside the shutter button.

5] Now, select PX Mod Settings, scroll down till you reach the Astrophotography Settings, and enable the same. That’s it. You’ll now get two different buttons when in the Night Sight mode- one to manually enter into Astrophotography mode and the other one to enable Light Painting mode.

As of now, other features such as Dual Exposure and Live HDR+ are exclusive to the Pixel 4 lineup and haven’t yet arrived for other devices. Although, keep checking the master link for updated versions.
