Lockdown Effect: Uber India Partners with Flipkart for Delivery of Essentials

All online brands are introducing their own measures to help people during this COVID 19 outbreak and the Quarantine. Uber recently launched its new services called UberMedic to help the healthcare officials. Now, the brand has collaborated with Flipkart in selected cities to deliver the essentials to people lockdown.

Because of the lockdown, online grocery services like Flipkart Grocery, Grofers, Big Basket and more are facing a shortage of delivery guys. This is making it difficult to deliver everyday essentials to the people in lockdown. This partnership between the brands will help with these deliveries to a big extent.

Uber will deploy its drivers for the last mile delivery of these essentials and there will be no commissions for the same. Uber said that al the earnings will be given to those drivers and their safety measures will be first priority. The drivers will be provided with masks, sanitizers, and gloves. They will also get specialized safety training according to the guidelines from the Indian Government.

The partnership between Flipkart and Uber came after the recent tie-up between Big Basket and Flipkart. For now, Uber partnered with Flipkart to deliver these everyday essentials in selected cities including Bangalore, Delhi, and Mumbai. We soon are able to see this service to be extended to other cities as well.
