Xiaomi announced a new budget smartphone Redmi 9 in Europe today. The latest phone in Redmi 9 series comes with a 6.53-inch Full HD+ LCD water-drop screen, Helio G80 processor, quad rear camera setup with a 13MP primary camera, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 5MP macro, 2MP depth sensor, an 8MP camera, and a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging. Display

The Redmi 9 sports a 6.53-inch Full HD+ (2340 × 1080 pixels) LCD screen.

Processor

It is powered by an Octa-Core MediaTek Helio G80 12nm processor with up to 4GB LPPDDR4x RAM. The device packs up to 64GB eMMC 5.1 storage, which is expandable up to 512GB with microSD.

Software

The smartphone runs on Android 10 with MIUI 11 on top. It is also upgradable to the latest MIUI 12.

Cameras

The quad-camera setup at the back consists of a 13MP primary camera with f/2.2 aperture, an 8MP 118° ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture, a 2MP depth, and a 5MP 4cm macro camera. It has an 8MP front camera with f/2.0 aperture.

Battery & Fast Charging

The phone packs a 5020mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. But it comes with a 10W charger in the box.

The phone has a textured anti-fingerprint coating on the back and comes in Ocean Green, Sunset Purple, and Carbon Gray colors. It has a rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Dimensions are 163.32 x 77.01 x 9.1 mm and its weight is 198g.

Connectivity

Connectivity options on the phone include 3.5mm audio jack, Dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac (2.4GHz + 5GHz), Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, NFC, and USB Type-C.

Redmi 9 Price & Availability in India

Redmi 9 price starts at €149 for the 3GB + 32GB version and 4GB + 64GB version is priced at €179. However, for now, it is available at an offer price of €139 (Rs. 11,900 approx.) for the 3GB/32GB and €169 (Rs. 14,500 approx.) for the 4GB/64GB version.

The Redmi 9 price in India is expected to start at Rs. 11,999. It will soon launch in India and may be available here in a few weeks.
