Enable Gaming Mode on Your Android Phone Even if it Doesn’t Have One

Several phones in the market feature built-in gaming modes to enhance the experience and block interruptions like calls and notifications while gaming. However, not all brands offer this feature. Also, if you have a phone which is dated or runs stock Android, you probably won’t find it on your device. That said, you can still enable gaming mode on your phone using the workaround given below.

Enable Gaming Mode on Any Android Phone

Lately, XDA’s senior developer fundoozzz came up with a new app called “Gaming Mode.” The app functions much like the built-in gaming mode by automatically applying specific settings when you start playing a game on your phone. Moreover, it supports all Android devices running Android 5.0 and above.

You can use it to boost your gaming experience, as follows:

  1. Download and install the Gaming Mode app from Google Play Store.
  2. Open the app, click the ‘+‘ icon, and add the games installed on your phone.
  3. Click the Settings icon on the top right and specify the settings to be changed while gaming. Allow the required permissions while enabling the options.
  4. Once you’re done with the Settings, get back to the app’s main screen and launch your desired game.

With the Gaming Mode app, you can auto-reject incoming calls, including WhatsApp, block notifications, disable auto-brightness, change Wifi state, and tweak ringtone and media volume. You can also set it to clear background apps to free up RAM and boost gaming performance as you start gaming.

Another useful option is to disable internet connectivity for other apps to avoid high ping issues while gaming. You can even change settings individually, i.e., have different sets of settings and tweaks for different games.

Once you start a game, the app will automatically apply the designated settings like clearing background apps, switching on Wifi, disabling auto-brightness, blocking all notifications, and turning down the ringer volume. Some features do require a premium, but the free version should be enough for most people.

Wrapping Up

We hope that you’re now able to enjoy gaming mode features on your phone using the app. Anyway, do you have any other similar apps to suggest? Please do let us know in the comments below. Stay tuned for more such articles.
