IMILAB Watch W12 Review: Feature-rich Yet Affordable Smartwatch

Smartwatches have become part of our daily life just like smartphones, as every day millions of people buy their first smartwatch, instead of a smart band. Why? Because smartwatches have become quite affordable nowadays. Today I’ll be reviewing one such affordable Chinese smartwatch called IMILAD (or IMILAB) SmartWatch W12, which looks way better and lasts way longer for the price it comes at. But also have some letdowns as well. So let’s get started with the review, and know is it really worth it?

Box Contents of IMILAB Watch W12

The first thing you will notice about this watch is the simple yet attractive box it comes in, giving a glimpse of the product. Strangely the box mentions the brand as IMILAD, while the online listing mentions it as IMILAB for some reason. IMILAB is a company that makes wearables for well-known brands like Xiaomi. Moving to the package contents, you get the following things:

  • Watch with an attached strap
  • Extra Strap
  • Magnetic Charger
  • Documents

Build Of IMILAB Watch W12

IMILAB Watch W12 comes with a Zinc Alloy Case, while the back is made of skin-friendly soft-touch polycarbonate to accommodate all the sensors. This makes the Watch W12 quite lightweight as it weighs only 57 grams. Along with this the IMILAB Watch W12 also comes with an IP68 rating making it dustproof and waterproof up to 1.5m for an hour.

The IMILAB Watch comes only in 46mm dial size, which is a bummer if you are looking for a smaller watch for a more comfortable fit. Along with this, the Bezels occupy a lot of unnecessary space, making the overall form factor too big if you happen to have a small or medium-sized wrist.

Display Of IMILAB Watch W12

The IMILAB Watch W12 comes with a 1.32 inch Colored LCD Display with a resolution of 360×360 pixels, making the text crisp and clean. You can adjust the brightness of the Watch W12 and it gets bright enough to read even if you are outdoors. The watch faces can be Customised to match your style. The capacitive touch panel is fast to touch responses, with no touch delays but don’t expect it to match like those of high-end premium smartwatches.

Health Features Of IMILAB Watch W12

The IMILAB Watch W12 does almost what we expect from an affordable smartwatch to do on the health front. Whether it is 24 hours heart rate monitoring or 24 hours Blood Oxygen (SpO2) monitoring, sleep monitoring, the watch has got you covered. Also, the watch comes with 13 sports modes like running, cycling, gymnastic, yoga, boating, etc. We also get a dedicated Female Health Tracking feature as well, so females can keep track of their menstrual cycles. All of these can be tracked from the watch, or even from the App.

App and Privacy Of IMILAB Watch W12

You need to download the GloryFit app to pair the Watch with your Android or iOS phone, as the app works both with Android and iOS. The App is required to update the firmware of the watch. The best thing about the app is that you need to create a login in order to use the app or track your health data. Sadly the app doesn’t support data sharing with Google Fit, so that’s a bummer.

Other Smart Features Of IMILAB Watch W12

Moving to the smart features offered by IMILAB Watch W12, we can check out App notifications but can’t reply to them from the watch, call reminders, Activity Reminders, set your morning or evening alarm routines, stopwatch, control the music playing on the phone, find our phone, and can also get weather information (based on the location set in the app, as the watch doesn’t have an inbuilt GPS).

Battery Life Of IMILAB Watch W12

Since the IMILAB Watch W12 doesn’t come with a GPS, we do get great battery life. In our usage period, the 330mAH cell still had almost 25% battery left, after 20 days, and a full charge can last nearly 25 days. That’s enough time to forget where you kept it charger, which once found can easily charge the watch using the magnetic pogo pin.

Final Verdict

If you are looking for an affordable smartwatch for around $50 (Rs. 4,000), then IMILAB Watch W12 is will be a good option to go for, as you get 24 hours heart and SpO2 monitoring, and it comes with an IP68 rating for causal water splashes and swimming. Also, IMILAB has worked well on the battery life which lasts almost a month, and yet kept the watch lightweight for a comfortable fit. It also has a large and bright display to look at, and the Zinc Alloy gives a more premium look compared to other options available in the same price segment. My only concern is the size of the watch, if there was a 42mm or 44mm size then it would have been much better for all different wrists sizes.
