The government of India has finally started the COVID vaccination for children below 18 years from yesterday January 3rd, 2022. Previously, only those who are above 18 years were eligible to take the vaccine, but now children below 18 and above 15 years can take the vaccine. Vaccine Registration for 15 to 18 Years
The registration for children’s vaccination started on January 01, 2022. Children who are 15 and above can now take the vaccine shots by visiting their nearby COVID vaccination centers. They can either book their slots online on Cowin or also book directly by walk-in.
Note: The online slots for children can be booked only via the CoWIN platform and not from WhatsApp and other apps like Paytm. For these apps, you will first need to add beneficiaries from the CoWIN website.
Steps to book Covid Vaccine Slot for Children
Here are the steps to follow in order to book vaccine slots for children:
1. Open the CoWIN platform and on the homepage scroll down to see “Vaccination for Children”.
2. Click on “Book Your Slot” under this section.
3. Now CoWIN registration page will open. Enter your mobile number to get the OTP.
4. After entering the OTP, your account will be opened. If you have already booked slots before, you will see the option to Add Members.
5. For first-time users too, there will be an option for the same.
6. Enter beneficiary’s (children’s) name, year of birth, and Aadhaar or any govt ID number.
Once the beneficiary is added, you can book the slot by searching for the nearest vaccination center by entering a PIN code or by district name. After that, choose your preferred center and date to book the slot.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has announced that only Covaxin will be administered to children of 15 to 18 years. To recall, for adults two other vaccines Covishiled and Sputnik are also available.
Children will be able to take the second dose after 28 days of the first dose. They can book the vaccine slots again by following the same steps. For more such informative articles, stay tuned!
