Coming to the processor make, there is a slight change in the chipset. Both feature 64 bit Mediatek processors with 1.3GHz frequency and 3 GB of RAM but the processor on Note 3 Lite is MT 6735 whereas Note 3 has MT6753.

There is no doubt that the performance on Coolpad Note 3 is slightly better among the two but looking at the price, the compromise is adjustable.

User Interface & Operating System

The Coolpad Note 3 and the Coolpad Note 3 Lite, both run on Cool UI 6.0 skins customized on top of Android Lollipop 5.1. Both the devices have a Coolshow app that contains the pre-loaded themes and you can download the themes as well. Coolpad has done a lot of tweaks over the stock Android experience.

The camera is also something where the Coolpad Note 3 and Coolpad Note 3 Lite share the same specs. Both feature the same 13 Megapixel primary camera with LED flash, f/2.0 aperture and CMOS sensor and a 5 Megapixel secondary camera. Both the cameras perform decent in terms of colour production, details and clarity. Both have the same camera software and same number of modes to play with, so again there is nothing distinct between both.

Coming on to the storage, the Coolpad Note 3 Lite and the Coolpad Note 3 both feature 16 GB of onboard storage, and support microSD card expansion. The Coolpad Note 3 Lite can be expanded up to a 32 GB via microSD card, whereas the Coolpad Note 3 can accommodate a 64 GB microSD card. So, this is where Coolpad takes on its smaller sibling but you must know that the Coolpad Note 3 Lite features a eMMC 5.0 flash drive which is comparatively high quality flash storage and offers a faster data transfer speed. Coolpad claims that it takes just 20 seconds to transfer a HD movie.

Battery & Other Features

The Coolpad Note 3 packs a juicier battery than the Coolpad Note 3 Lite on paper. The Coolpad Note 3 comes with a 3000 mAh battery, whereas the Coolpad Note 3 Lite has a smaller 2500 mAh battery. In real life usage, Coolpad Note 3 lasts a little longer than the other one, but the difference is very minimal and does not makes much of a difference.

Fingerprint sensor

Both the Coolpad phones feature a snappy fingerprint sensor on the rear panel; this is the USP of both the phones. Moreover, these are the most affordable phones to feature a fingerprint sensor.

Design and Build

Talking about the design and built, both follow the same design language but due to the change in the screen size, the Coolpad Note 3 Lite is smaller and fits better in hand. It also has a grainy finish on the back which was not seen in the Coolpad Note 3.

Pricing & Availability

The Coolpad Note 3 Lite is priced at INR 6,999 and the Coolpad Note 3, on the other hand, is available for a price of 8,999, a bit costlier than the Coolpad Note 3 Lite. Both have a price difference of INR 2,000 and according to us, this was a good move by the company.

Conclusion

Both the devices, the Coolpad Note 3 and the Coolpad Note 3 Lite are amazing devices for their price. Both offer all the possible hardware and software features under their price range. According to us, the reason behind the release of the lighter version is to avail the choices to the consumers who want to opt for a smaller screen or a cheaper device with same offering as Coolpad note 3.
