Honor 5C vs Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016), Quick Comparison Review

Huawei Honor 5C was first unveiled in China in April this year and this much awaited phone reached India on 22nd June 2016. On the other hand, Samsung unveiled its Galaxy A5 (2016) in China in December 2015 and launched it in India on 4th Feb 2016. Both the phones feature a 5.2 inch display, 13 MP rear camera, 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage. Let us take a look at the complete comparison between the Honor 5C and the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016).

Design & Build

The Honor 5C features a 5.2 inch display with a 68.7% screen-to-body ratio. The Honor 5C has a metal unibody with curved edges that makes the phone very premium looking. Normally, you will not find a phone in this price segment with such a premium build quality. Its dimensions are 147.1 x 73.8 x 8.3 mm and it weighs around 156 grams. Overall the phone looks pretty solid and strong.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) comes with a 5.2 inch display with a 72.5% screen-to-body ratio with the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. In addition the back also has Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It has a physical home button with an inbuilt fingerprint sensor. The overall design is impressive and the build quality is also very strong.


Display

The Honor 5C comes with a 5.2 inch IPS LCD display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 424 ppi pixel density. On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) features a 5.2 inch Super AMOLED display with a screen resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels and pixel density of 424 ppi.

The display on A5 is clearly the winner, although looking at the price Honor 5C gives a good offer as well. Galaxy A5 has an amazing display, and it is one of the most appealing feature about this phone.

Camera

The Honor 5c is equipped with a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, autofocus and f/2.0 aperture. It features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR and panorama. It supports  Full HD videos @30fps. On the front, Honor 5c has a 8 MP camera with f/2.0 aperture.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) comes with a 13 MP rear camera with LED flash, OIS, autofocus and f/1.9 aperture. It also features Geo-tagging, touch focus, face detection, HDR, panorama and Full HD videos @30fps. On the front it has a 5 MP camera with f/1.9 aperture.

Again, both the cameras perform great in good lighting conditions but we cannot ignore that the Galaxy A5 costs a lot more than the Honor 5C still both the phones capture alike photos.

Hardware, Storage and OS

The Honor 5c is powered by a Quad-core 2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 & Quad-core 1.7 GHz Cortex-A53 processors with a wonderful HiSilicon Kirin 650 chipset and Mali-T880MP2 GPU. It comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card through the SIM2 slot.

On the other hand, the Galaxy A5 (2016) comes with a Octa-core 1.6 GHz Cortex-A53 processor with Exynos 7580 Octa chipset and Mali-T720MP2 GPU. It also have 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage that is expandable up to 256 GB via microSD card.

Battery and Other Features

The Honor 5c is backed by a Non-removable 3000 mAh Li-Polymer battery which gives a talk time of 18.9 hrs (3G) and a standby time of 630 hrs (3G). Regarding other features it has a fingerprint sensor at the back and latest marshmallow operating system with EMUI 4.1 on the top.

On the other hand, Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is backed by a Non-removable Li-Ion 2900 mAh battery that support fast charging and gives a talk time of 16 hrs (3G). It also has a fingerprint sensor which is inbuilt in the home button and a dedicated microSD slot.

Price and Availability

The Honor 5c is priced at Rs. 10,999 and it is available on flipkart in Gold, Grey and Silver color. While Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) is priced at Rs. 21,900 and it is also available on Flipkart in Black, Gold and White color.

Conclusion

To conclude, both the phones come with quite similar specs but interestingly, the prices of both the phones are far apart from each other. Both the phones have a 5.2 inch display, great design and build, enough RAM and storage, good camera, nice battery and a fingerprint sensor.

If seen individually, Honor 5c has the latest operating system and 16nm Kirin 650 chipset that are missing in Galaxy A5 (2016). In the end, Honor 5c is priced at Rs. 10,999 which is approximately Rs. 10,000 lesser than the samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) that is priced at Rs. 21,900.
