Among the list of innumerable competitors to the Micromax Canvas 4, one device which poses somewhat a much serious threat is the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1, for the fact that the device sells for about 2000 INR lesser than the Canvas 4, and packs a Full HD screen, bettering the Canvas 4’s 720p HD by quite some margin.
The only thing which might play against the iBerry device is that the brand is relatively unknown in the market, while Micromax is a household name by now. Of course, there’s a major difference in the customer support base too, which might (and probably will) add to it.
However, keeping everything else aside, let us go and compare the devices head-to-head.
Display And Processor
The iBerry Auxus Nuclea comes with a 5 inch Full HD display (1920×1080 pixels), which means that the device has a really high pixel density of 441ppi. The panel comes with the latest display technology, the active matrix technology. The usage of OGS (One Glass Screen) minimizes the gap between the actual screen and the digitizer, making the experience more enjoyable. On the other hand, the Micromax Canvas 4 packs a similar 5 inch screen, however it comes with a much lesser resolution of 1280×720 pixels. The total number of pixels on the iBerry’s screen are more than double of what you find on the Canvas 4, which means that the iBerry has a much better display, at least in terms of numbers.
Under the hood, the Micromax Canvas 4 packs a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, the same we saw a few months back in the Micromax Canvas HD. On the other hand, the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 takes it a step ahead and features the latest offering from Mediatek, the MT6589T. The MT6589T is the updated version of the MT6589, and features a faster 1.5 GHz processor along with a more powerful GPU. This means that the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 will, inevitably, be the better of the two devices when it comes to processing power as well as display.
Camera And Memory
The Auxus Nuclea N1 features a massive 13MP unit at the rear, which comes with single-LED flash for low light photography. On the front, the device keeps up with the ‘massive’ quotient and packs an 8MP unit on the front, which is a first for any domestic manufacturer till date. On the other hand, the Canvas 4 packs a similar 13MP camera on the rear, which also comes with an LED Flash. On the front, however, the Canvas 4 loses out to the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 with a 5MP unit compared to the 8MP on the Nuclea N1. Honestly, we think that 3.2MP units are good enough for a front camera, however, who wouldn’t want more!
Most Indian/Chinese manufacturers tend to overlook the internal storage on their devices, but thankfully the Canvas 4 does better in this regard. The Canvas 4 packs 16GB of on-board storage, whereas the Nuclea N1 comes with only 4GB of the same. Both devices have a microSD slot for expandable storage, which can be used to extend storage up to 64GB.
Battery And Features
Another segment where users have been expecting more. The Canvas 4 packs a disappointing 2000mAh battery, while the Nuclea N1 seems to have heard the users’ pleas for a better (bigger) battery and includes a 2800mAh unit, significantly better than the one on the Canvas 4. You can expect the Canvas 4 to take you through one work day of moderate usage, while the Nuclea N1 might be good for more than one whole day, depending on usage.
Among other features, the Nuclea N1 has virtually nothing to speak of, while the Canvas 4 comes with a bag full of nifty tricks. This includes blow to unlock, shake to unlock, etc.

Conclusion
The iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 does impress us big-time with the specifications on offer. What makes the device look even better is the price tag it comes with, cheaper than the Canvas 4 by about 2000 INR. On the other hand, the Micromax Canvas 4 seems like a very ‘mature’ device, and instead of pure specifications, the device advertises itself on exceptional build quality and a good support base. We have to admit, we were highly impressed with the Canvas 4 during the time we spent with the device.
It ultimately comes down to what you’re looking for; the iBerry Auxus Nuclea N1 packs a much better specifications sheet, while the Canvas 4 boasts of superb build quality. Also, the Canvas 4 is said to have much better availability.
