Display

Moto C Plus

Moto C Plus comes with a 5.0-inch HD display with 1280 X 720 pixels screen resolution and offers a pixel density of ~291 PPI. The display is appropriate for this segment and viewing from different angles is not an issue with this budget smartphone.

Xiaomi Redmi 4

The Redmi 4 also offers a similar kind of display with 5.0-inch screen size and 1280 X 720 pixels screen resolution. However, it has a 2.5D curved glass on that gives a slight difference over the Moto C Plus. But, it is surely not a decision maker difference and both the phones are on the same level in terms of display.

Hardware And Storage

Moto C Plus

Moto C Plus comes with a Mediatek MT6737 chipset with quad-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz. This is further coupled to a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage. Graphic duties are handled by Mali-T720MP2. The internal storage can be further upgraded up to 32GB via microSD card.

Xiaomi Redmi 4

The Redmi 4 on the other side offers Snapdragon 435 chipset, an octa-core processor clocked at 1.4GHz and Adreno 505 GPU. The processor is coupled to a 2GB RAM and 16GB internal storage as C Plus but, with the difference of upgrading the storage up to 256GB via microSD. It is also available in 3GB and 4GB RAM variants, but at higher prices.

Software And Performance

Moto C Plus

Moto C Plus comes with the advanced Android Nougat 7.0 whereas, Redmi 4 offers Android 6.0 Marshmallow.

Xiaomi Redmi 4

In terms of performance, both the smartphones are fairly different from each other due to the chipsets used. While the Moto C Plus comes with a quad-core Mediatek MT6737 processor, the Redmi 4 comes with an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor.

Compared to Mediatek, Qualcomm is a better choice. The Mediatek MT6737 chipset is older, too, so it is less efficient both in terms of speed and power consumption, compared to Snapdragon 435.

Camera

Moto C Plus

Moto C Plus is backed with an 8MP rear camera with f/2.2, autofocus and LED flash and at the front, a 2MP, f/2.8 LED flash selfie shooter.

Xiaomi Redmi 4

The Redmi 4 comes with a 13MP rear camera with f/2.2, PDAF and autofocus while at the front, there is a 5MP selfie shooter. Clearly, the Redmi 4 has an upper hand in this aspect due to a better camera configuration. Although Xiaomi is not a pro in imaging, do not expect that the Moto C Plus’s camera is comparable to the Redmi 4’s.

Battery

Both the manufacturers have focused on this aspect and backed their smartphones with big batteries for a longer phone life. The Moto C Plus comes with a 4000 mAh battery whereas, Redmi 4 has a slightly bigger better which reads 4100 mAh.

Conclusion

Both the smartphones offer pretty similar specs with slight differences. You get a latest operating system with the Moto C Plus, but have to compromise on the processor front. It also lacks a fingerprint sensor which is now a common feature in most of the budget smartphones. Even in the imaging part, Moto C Plus is not on par with the Redmi 4 and overall the Redmi 4 scores higher points.

So, if you are not a Moto fan then investing your money in the Redmi 4 with better specs and reliability would be a wise decision. However, Moto C Plus is not a bad phone at all and surely deserves your consideration if you want stock Android.
