Smart NaMo Phablet VS Micromax Canvas Doodle 2 Comparison Review

Smart NaMo is the latest player in this overcrowded market of budget manufacturers. Their offering in the phablet category, aptly titled as the Smart NaMo Phablet (click to read Quick Review), is all set to compete with innumerable devices from domestic and international hardware makers, that includes Micromax, Zopo, Samsung, Lenovo, etc. One of the direct competitors to this device is the recently released Micromax Canvas Doodle 2, which is the updated version of the Canvas Doodle which was released earlier this year.

Let us take this battle between domestic phablets forward and match them spec for spec.

Display and Processor

Both devices being phablets come with large screens. However, the Smart NaMo Phablet beats the Doodle 2 in terms of sheer size with it’s 6.5 inch display against Doodle 2’s 5.7 incher. However, it might be worthy to note that a 6.5 inch screen might be too big for some, and a 5.7 inch screen seems more usable.

Coming to the screen resolutions, the Smart NaMo Phablet packs a full HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels in the 6.5 inch panel, which results in a pixel density of 338. On the other hand, the Doodle 2 comes with a 5.7 inch screen that features a pixel density of 220, which does seem quite a bit lower than what you get on the Smart NaMo Phablet.

All in all, the Smart NaMo Phablet would be the better choice when your usage involves movies and gaming, or any type of multimedia for long durations.

On the processing front, the Smart NaMo Phablet beats the Doodle 2 with it’s updated 1.5 GHz MT6589T versus the regular 1.2 GHz version on the Doodle 2. Also, the Doodle 2 is expected to carry 1GB RAM while the Smart NaMo Phablet is will be coming in a 2GB RAM variant as well.

The Smart NaMo Phablet is the better one out of the two when it comes to processing power at least, however.

Camera and Memory

Like most Chinese flagships of today, the Smart NaMo Phablet too will be coming with a 13MP rear. It is interesting to note that although the name Smart NaMo sounds vaguely Indian, it is in fact a Chinese firm operating from China.

Coming back to the device, apart from the 13MP rear, the device will feature a rather lacklustre 2MP front unit. Lacklustre only because one’s expectations do get higher when you come to you of a 13MP rear.

On the other hand, the Doodle 2 comes with a more balanced set of cameras, with the device’s rear housing a 12MP main unit, while the front does an impressive 5MP.

We would hope that none of these main cameras are interpolated resolutions, something which we’ll come to know only once we get the device in our hands. Otherwise, the set of cameras on the Doodle 2 sound better thanks to the 8MP front.

Battery and Features

The Smart NaMo Phablet again makes the Doodle 2 look small with it’s gigantic 3100mAh battery. You can expect the phone to last one and a half day easily with normal usage, and with conservative usage, you should be able to extract 2 days on a single charge. Smat NaMo claim that the battery on the phone lasts 2-3hrs of talktime and up to 180 hours of standby.

The Doodle 2, on the other hand, comes with a 2600mAh unit which sounds very similar, thanks to the Galaxy Grand Mega 5.8’s battery specifications. You can expect the phone to do one day easily, however 2 days of usage on one single charge would be tough to achieve on this device.

Conclusion

Although the Smart NaMo Phablet comes with very impressive specs, the device does seem oversized as far as the average user is concerned. Not long back, devices such as these were qualified as tablets, so you can estimate the amount of change that has taken place.
If you are ok with a device as big as the Smart NaMo Phablet, then it definitely makes for a better device than the Doodle 2 for the fact that it not only comes with a bigger battery, but it also packs a more powerful processor + more RAM which would mean the device will be much better at handling apps.
