Top 5 Windows Phone smartphones priced under 20,000 INR

While its pretty clear that it is the Android that is ruling the roost on the smartphone scene, but Microsoft’s Windows Phone OS is one platform which has been gaining popularity in the past thanks to some quality WP devices being offered at affordable prices.

Of course, a major chunk of these devices come from the Nokia inventory. In fact, all of the top 5 devices that we will list here come from Nokia. This particularly isn’t a surprise since Nokia was among the first manufacturers to jump on the WP bandwagon with its Lumia range of smartphones. But what is seen as pretty much a game changer for the Finnish manufacturer is the Lumia 520, which bought Nokia the much needed market share.

You guessed it, didn’t you? The Nokia Lumia 520 is a device that doesn’t really have a specs sheet to boast of, but does its job regardless. With a dual-core processor and a 4-inch screen, the Nokia Lumia 520 is the perfect smartphone for those who do not like to tinker with their smartphones as much as their Android counterparts.

The device can now be yours for under 9000 INR, which is quite a deal if we’re concerned. The highly optimized WP OS makes full use of the underlying hardware, resulting in a smooth UI.

Nokia Lumia 525

Battery 1430mAh
Price 8,800 INR

A minor upgrade from the phone listed right above, the Lumia 525 rocks pretty much the same specs sheet as its sibling (Lumia 520) but rectifies on a very crucial aspect – RAM. While the Lumia 520 comes with just 512MB of RAM, the Lumia 525 packs a good 1GB which makes it quite a bit better in multitasking when compared to the 520.

Launched at a slightly higher price, the Lumia 525 is for those who tend to have multiple applications running on their smartphone simultaneously.

Nokia Lumia 625

Processor 1.2GHz dual-core
RAM 512MB
Internal Storage 8GB
OS WP8
Cameras 5MP/VGA
Battery 2000mAh
Price 12,500 INR

Announced almost a year back, the Lumia 625 is seen as an incremental (if yes) upgrade when you compare it to the 520. The device comes with the same, i.e., 512MB of RAM but rocks a slightly more powerful 1.2GHz dual-core processor. However, what really makes it stand apart from devices like the Lumia 520 is the screen – it comes with a 4.7-inch screen which is quite a bit larger than the usual 4-inch you are used to seeing.

The device can now be bought at anywhere around 12,500 INR, and makes for a good large screen alternative to other Lumia phones with similar specs but smaller screens.

Nokia Lumia 720

RAM 512MB

Battery 2000mAh
Price 17,000 INR

Yet again, we find another device which sits between two others. The Nokia Lumia 720 comes in with a 4.3-inch screen, and is for those who find a 4.7-inch screen a little too big, and a 4-inch screen too small. The resolution, however, stays at 800 x 480 pixels which isn’t something too good if one is to go by 2014 standards. There’s the very recognizable MSM8227 1GHz dual-core processor taking control of things with 512MB of RAM, making the device quite an entry-leveler.

Nokia Lumia 1320

Battery 3400mAh
Price 20,000 INR

A massive departure from the devices mentioned above, the Lumia 1320 features a 6-inch 1280 x 720p screen. Not only does this mean that the Lumia 1320 has the largest screen among the devices listed here, but also the highest resolution, coming in with a 720p HD resolution when the rest have just WVGA. Of course, you have to take into account the screen size as well, which in this case demands a greater resolution.

Under the hood, the Lumia 1320 is again the most powerful when you compare it to the other devices listed here. Of course, this comes at a price – the device hits the upper limit of 20k INR, while crossing the mark in some places.
