MWC 2019: What to expect from Huawei, Samsung, Nokia, LG and more

MWC (Mobile World Congress) is the biggest event for mobile phones held in Barcelona, Spain. This year’s MWC show is coming soon. To remind you, MWC 2019 kicks off on February 25 and ends on February 28.

Some companies hold their keynote events a day or two before the MWC mobile show. We know that every company brings its big gun at the biggest show. We already have got several leaks and official information on what to expect at MWC this year. Here’s what we might see from brands like Huawei, Samsung, Nokia at MWC 2019.

Huawei

Huawei has scheduled its MWC press event for February 24. The company has already teased at a foldable phone launch at the event. Moreover, company CEO Richard Yu has also hinted at a foldable and a 5G handset and these could be the same phone. So, Huawei might announce a 5G-enabled foldable phone at the event. The invite has teased a V-shaped device with ‘Connecting the Future’ tag. It is expected to come with the Kirin 980 chipset. Rest of the information about the specs is still unclear. 

Samsung

Samsung is holding its big Unpacked event a few days before the MWC 2019. The company will launch its Galaxy S10 series at the San Francisco event on February 20. So, we expect the Galaxy S10 series to get a big unveil at the MWC 2019 event as well. We also expect a preview of the company’s upcoming foldable phone at the event.

LG

LG will announce the G8 ThinQ flagship at the MWC 2019 event. The company’s launch event is scheduled for February 24. If we talk about specs, the LG G8 ThinQ is reportedly powered by the Snapdragon 855 flagship SoC and sports a triple camera setup on the back. The new flagship will also feature a front camera with a ToF sensor that brings features like face unlock and AR applications. We also expect a V series phone, probably the V50 that might bring 5G capabilities as well.

Nokia

Nokia has scheduled its MWC 2019 event on February 24, a day before MWC formally starts. The company is expected to announce the flagship Nokia 9 PureView. The phone has been leaked multiple times over the past few months. It is expected to sport five cameras on the back with ZEISS optics and it could be powered by Snapdragon 855 chipset.

OnePlus

OnePlus has also announced its presence at this year’s MWC. We already know that the company is planning a 5G handset and the OnePlus 7 model. These phones could perhaps be the one. However, the company is holding a closed-door event at the show so we aren’t expecting any smartphone launch from the company.

Sony

Sony has always launched its flagships at the big show. This year, the company has scheduled its event for February 25 where it is expected to unveil the Sony Xperia XZ4. The Xperia XZ4 appears to be an interesting phone with a reported 21:9 aspect ratio display. It is also expected to come with a 4,400 mAh battery.

Oppo

Oppo has scheduled its MWC 2019 event for February 23, two days before MWC begins. The company is expected to showcase its 10X hybrid zoom technology at MWC 2019. The new technology will be used on a triple-camera setup and it is likely to give better results than the 5X zoom.

Motorola

Motorola has recently announced its Moto G7 series in Brazil. So, these phones are expected to be there at the company’s booth at the event. Moreover, there are also rumours that the company is planning to revive its iconic Moto RAZR with the launch of a new foldable phone.
