Apple recently launched the latest MacBook Pro. There have been a lot of criticisms of the device already. The main criticisms are removal of connectivity options and the price. In India, the MacBook Pro starts at 1,29,000 and goes all the way to 2,41,900. Let’s take a look at some of the issues with the new MacBook Pro.
No SD Card Slot
If you are someone who uses SD card, you are going to be disappointed as Apple has removed the SD card slot from MacBook Pro. They claim it was done to make the device thinner. You will have to carry a SD card reader if you want to use your SD card with the MacBook Pro.
No Full Size HDMI
Apple has also removed HDMI port from the MacBook Pro. You will need to buy an adapter to use HDMI. Buying and carrying a adapter will be an issue to many.
Low Feedback Keyboard
People who have used the MacBook Pro have reported that typing on the keyboard feels awkward and the feedback is very low. They say the keyboard would take getting used to. It’s best if you use it before buying it.
No Glowing Apple Logo
The MacBook’s iconic glowing logo has been removed in the MacBook Pro. The glowing logo has been replaced with a glossy Apple logo. The glowing logo can be found on the MacBook Air and the older MacBook Pro.
The MacBook Pro 13 inch version with the function keys starts at Rs. 1,29,000. The 13 inch Touch Bar version has been priced at Rs. 1,55,900 for the 256 GB version and Rs. 1,72,900 for the 512 GB version. The 15 inch MacBook Pro starts at Rs. 2,05,900 and goes up to Rs. 2,41,900. Apart from that, you will need to buy up to five adapters. The high price is enough to make many buyers reconsider buying the device.
Buy Adaptors and Carry Them Everywhere To Live Life
As we said earlier, the MacBook Pro comes with only 4 Thunderbolt 3/USB-C ports and a 3.5mm headphone jack. You will need to buy dongles or adapters for using SD card, HDMI port, micro USB devices, USB-A devices, Ethernet adapter and Thunderbolt 2 adapter. Buying and carrying these everywhere will be a big issue to most buyers.
New Touch Bar
The new touch bar will replace the current function keys in the MacBook Pro. It is a multi-touch OLED display. The touch bar adapts to different functions in different apps. It also comes with Touch ID at the right side of the touch bar.
The MacBook Pro comes with a better and a brighter display. The 13 inch device comes with a 2560 x 1600 pixel retina display. The 15 inch version comes with a 2880 x 1800 pixels retina display. The display offers rich colors. Overall, the display is brighter, supports broader colors and has better contrast.
The MacBook Pro is thinner than ever. The 13 inch version weighs just 1.37 kg and measures 14.9 mm. The 15 inch version weighs 1.83 kg and measures 15.5 mm. The 13 inch version is 17% more thinner than the previous model. Apple had to compromise on ports to make the MacBook thinner.
