5 Things We Like In Vivo V5 Plus

Great Selfie Camera

Vivo V5 Plus

The Vivo V5 Plus looks and feels great in hands with its metallic unibody design. The bezels are used very well for the cameras and flash on the front. Overall, the phone looks minimalist and elegant. The metallic build also makes it look very premium. Vivo’s designs have generally been very good, so this is a continuation of the company’s ethos.

Great Display

The V5 Plus comes with a 5.5 inch full HD IPS LCD display. In our testing, we found the display to be very good. Colour reproduction and sunlight visibility are excellent. The viewing angles are great as well, thanks to the 2.5D curved glass. The V5 Plus is also one of the very few phones to feature the latest Corning Gorilla Glass 5. In fact, it is the only phone under Rs. 30,000 to feature Gorilla Glass 5.

Good Performance in Day Usage

We have been testing the V5 Plus for a while now. In our regular day to day usage, we found the phone to perform decently. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor with Adreno 506 GPU. Qualcomm has struck a very good balance between power efficiency and performance with the Snapdragon 625. No surprise then that the V5 Plus is a very good performer.

Good Gaming

The V5 Plus performed adequately as far as gaming is concerned, too. We took the phone for a gaming test by playing a graphics intensive game like Modern Combat 5. The V5 Plus fared decently. However, thermal performance and power management while gaming was not as impressive.

Metal Build

One of the nicer things about the V5 Plus, apart from the front cameras is that it looks great. Thanks to the metallic build quality, we are looking at a very premium looking phone in the mid-range.

2 Things We Do Not Like In Vivo V5 Plus

Price

The V5 Plus’ pricing remains a concern. At Rs. 27,980, it does seem to be a little costly for what you are getting in return. However, it is a unique phone combining two really good camera sensors on the front, along with a Moonlight LED flash. This kind of experience is not offered by most other phones out there. However, it would have been nicer to see a slightly more set of specs.

Battery

The battery is also one of the things we did not like about the V5 Plus. For a phone with a 5.5 inch display, a 3160 mAh battery is a little small. The phone could have benefited with a bigger battery even if it meant a slightly thicker build.
