Xiaomi Mi Mix 2: Everything we know about the bezel-less device

With just two days left to the launch of Xiaomi Mi Mix 2, we thought this to be a great time for a rumour wrap-up. Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 will be announced on September 11 in China.

Going back to February this year, Xiaomi’s CEO, Lei Jung had posted on Weibo about the Mi Mix 2 coming with a higher screen-to-body ratio than the Mi Mix. To recall, the Mi Mix is Xiaomi’s edgeless phablet which was well accepted for its ceramic build and nearly bezel-less display.

Since the phone is to be announced on September 11, we have a lot of rumours, confirming almost all the key specifications of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. Back in February, Xiaomi CEO teased the Mi Mix 2 to come with a higher screen ratio than the Mi Mix.

So starting with the display, we expect a big 6.4 inch AMOLED panel with quad HD resolution. The Mi Mix 2 is rumoured to feature a 93% screen-to-body ratio. It does so by eliminating the bezels on the sides and the top.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is designed by the same designer, Philippe Starck, who designed the Mi Mix, it is expected to embrace some aesthetics from its predecessor. We can expect the Mi Mix 2 to feature the same ceramic back with a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor. And of course, the physical navigation keys may not be there on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2.

Optics might be another part where Xiaomi will up their game. Having already introduced dual cameras on its devices, we can expect a powerful dual camera module on the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2. While the specifications are not out yet, an earlier leak pointed at 3D facial recognition too. The Mi Mix 2 may have a front camera which will enable you to unlock your phone by facial recognition.

In terms of hardware, the recent Geekbench listing of the Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 shows a Snapdragon 835 processor. It is expected to have two storage variants with 4GB/6GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.

Expected to be powered by a 4,500 mAh battery, the Mi Mix 2 may have the same acoustic earphone technology, eliminating the need of an earpiece. You may get Bluetooth, WiFi, USB Type-C, and 4G VoLTE connectivity options.
