Asus Zenfone Max M1 and Zenfone Lite L1 Hands on

Asus released two new smartphones in the entry-level category today- Zenfone Max M1 and Zenfone Lite L1. Both the smartphones come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor and HD+ display. The price of the Asus Zenfone Max M1 is Rs 7,499, and the price for the Asus Zenfone Lite L1 is Rs 5,999. These smartphones will be competing with the Xiaomi’s most popular Redmi series and with the new brand RealMe.

Here’s our hands-on experience of the newly launched Zenfone Max M1 and Zenfone Lite L1.

Build and Display

Both the smartphones come with the same quality of polycarbonate outer casing but with different finishes. The Zenfone Max M1 comes with a smooth finish at the back whereas the Zenfone Lite L1 comes with a more grainy finish at the back. The smartphones are available in both Black and Gold colors with their own signature finish at the back.

The smartphones come with a 5.5 inches HD+ display with 1440 x 720 resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The corners of the screen are rounded which looks a little bit better than square displays. The display on the Zenfone Max M1 is layered by a 2.5D curved glass which gives it a nice flushed look.

Camera

The Zenfone Max M1 and the Zenfone Lite L1 both shares a 13MP sensor at the back with a flashlight for low light conditions. The aperture size on both the smartphones is f/2.0 which is also a great addition to take good pictures in less bright conditions. The Zenfone Max M1 comes with an 8MP selfie shooter whereas the Zenfone Lite L1 has a 5MP shooter at front.

The rear camera performance in both the smartphones is excellent; there is a lot of detail in the pictures. When it comes to low light conditions, the Zenfone Max M1 keeps up the quality pictures, but Zenfone Lite L1 seems to show grains in pictures. The Selfie shooters are also great and come with portrait mode to blur out the background for bokeh effect.

Performance

Asus Zenfone Max M1 and Zenfone Lite L1 come with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 processor which is paired with 3GB RAM (Max M1) and 2GB RAM (Lite L1). Both of the smartphones come with Android 8.1 Oreo running out of the box with Asus’ Zen UI 5 layered on top.

Both the smartphones are pretty much smooth at every part of the user interface and multitasking. But when it comes to gaming and stuff, Asphalt 8 runs in lowest possible graphics with lags and frame drops. The battery on Zenfone Max M1 is 4000 mAh, and on Zenfone Lite L1, it is 3000 mAh. Both smartphones can provide a full day of battery backup.

Conclusion

The Zenfone Max M1 and Zenfone Lite L1 are entry-level smartphones which come with a decent processor and a good camera. This phone is perfect for one who wants to use it for a day to day smartphone usage, not for gaming and stuff. These smartphones will be available to buy online exclusively on Flipkart during Festive Dhamaka sale.
