Blackberry Priv Hands On [Video]
Blackberry Priv is a good looking smartphone with thin bezels and the screen measuring 5.4 inches with WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) AMOLED display occupying the front portion. People at Blackberry will b working hard to accomplish this design without the shadow of a doubt. The build is pretty solid and sturdy. As far as the design of this smartphone is concerned it really makes an impression.
On the right side you will find a button uniquely placed between the volume up and volume down buttons which is used to mute the incoming calls and pull down the notification panel. This is something which we are not accustomed of watching in smartphones.
On the left side there is power button only and nothing much to say here.
On the bottom side you will find a 3.5 mm jack which again we have not seen many times before and next to it is the microUSB port.
On the back you will find a circular camera unit holding the 18MP lens and dual LED flash. In the middle there is logo of Blackberry and rest of the surface is clean with nothing of sorts there.
Blackberry Priv runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and the UI is very stock and have all the usual stock features that we have already seen. The UI is fast and fluid and we witnessed no lags of any kind. Multitasking is very smooth too and there is nothing we noticed other than flawless performance.
Blackberry Priv excels in all areas which includes its shooting capabilities. It features an 18 MP rear shooter with optical Image Stabilization, Phase Detection Auto Focus. Dual tone LED flash does the job perfectly and produces good images. It is capable of recording 4K videos. Images are cear with good amount of details in them and even in low lighting conditions we can click good quality photos.
On the front there is a 2MP camera for video chats and selfies but irrespective of the megapixels, the camera is descent enough and is capable of recording HD videos. This is not the best we have seen but still it will not disappoint you at all.
Price and Availability
Blackberry Priv is priced at INR 62,990 and will be available to purchase starting January 30 from all the Backberry outlets and retail stores across the country.
Comparison And Competition
Blackberry Priv will be competing with the likes of Samsung Galaxy Edge and Samsung Galaxy Edge + smartphones and other which are priced similarly. iPhone 6 will also turnout to be a fierce competitor for this smartphone giving it a run for the money. But still Blackberry is little bit costly than our expectations but it is worth the features and specifications it comes with.
When it comes to Blackberry it is all about the security, privacy and perfection. Blackberry has been trying to do something different for quite sometime and this is the outcome in the form of Blackberry Priv. With a slight changes in design and a slide out keyboard which doubles up as scroll pad or touch-pad is really innovative on the part of Blackberry.
