Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 vs RealMe U1: Asus did a better job

Asus launched the Zenfone Max Pro M1 earlier this year, and it got quite the hype because of its price. So, Asus decided to upgrade it and launched the next generation with even more competitive pricing. The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with a decent processor and dual camera setup which comes at such an affordable price.

Recently a new brand called RealMe is also working really hard making its presence in the Indian smartphone market. It launched four smartphones back to back, some of them are a hit, and some of them are a huge miss. Recently we got a new device form that brand called RealMe U1 which comes with almost similar pricing as the Zenfone Max Pro M2.

Let’s compare these two smartphones and see which smartphone got bang for its buck. The RealMe U1 starts from Rs 11,999 while the Zenfone Max Pro M2 starts from Rs 12,999. There is almost a difference of Rs 1,000, let us see how it translates to the performance.

Design and Display

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 and the RealMe U1 both come with a shiny back panel which is made out of a polycarbonate material. But the frame on Zenfone Max Pro M2 is made from aluminum whereas the frame on RealMe U1 is made from polycarbonate. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 (8.5mm) is a bit thicker than the RealMe U1(8mm), but the weights are almost similar.

The display on both the smartphones is about similar 6.3 inches (6.26 inches on Max Pro M2) which comes with a notch. Whereas the notch size is smaller on the RealMe U1 than the Zenfone Max Pro M2. The display on Zenfone Max Pro M2 is protected by Gorilla Glass 6 whereas RealMe U1 comes with a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection.

Both the displays are IPS LCD panel which comes with full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. The screen to body ratio is more than 82 percent in both the smartphones with a chin at the bottom and the notch on display. Overall the build quality and the protection on display makes a better smartphone at this price range.

Performance

The Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor whereas the RealMe U1 comes with a Mediatek P70 processor. In both the smartphones RAM starts from 3GB and storage starts from 32GB. The RAM goes to 6GB in Zenfone Max Pro M2 whereas in RealMe U1 it goes to 4GB. The storage option goes to the 64GB maximum in both the smartphones and both smartphones comes with an expandable storage option.

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with no customizations whatsoever. The Max Pro M2 comes with stock Android interface and will get Android updates faster including security patches. The RealMe U1 comes running Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 layered on top.

Camera

The camera in Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a dual sensor setup which includes a 12MP sensor and a 5MP sensor to measure depth. The front facing camera is a 13MP sensor which comes with LED flash and f/2.0 aperture size for low light conditions. The camera is also capable of recording 4K videos at 30 frames per second with EIS built in for stabilization.

The camera in RealMe U1 is not an impressive one; it comes with dual sensor setup at the rear including a 13MP main sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. The primary sensor comes with f/2.0 aperture size and FHD video recording. The smartphone comes with a 25MP front-facing camera for amazing selfies and face unlock.

Features

In some other differences, Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with a 5000 mAh battery whereas RealMe U1 comes with 3500 mAh battery with 10W charging. The Zenfone Max Pro M2 comes with Bluetooth 5.0 wheres RealMe U1 comes with Bluetooth 4.2.

Wrapping up

The Asus Zenfone Max Pro M2 is a clear winner here at every point of this comparison. The RealMe U1 comes with one pro over the Zenfone Max Pro M2, and it is the 25MP front-facing camera. Other than this, Zenfone Max Pro M2 is better value for money in every aspect of the hardware and the software also.
