Huawei Ascend P7 is the successor of the same Huawei Ascend P6 and is carries forward the same legacy. With P series phones, Huawei pays keen attention to build quality. Performance isn’t compromised, but it is still secondary to aesthetic beauty. The Ascend P7 arrived a little late in India, but is finally available for approx 23,000 INR. Let’s take a look at how it compares against other high end smartphones like LG G2, Gionee Elife E7, Sony Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8.

Display and Processor

Huawei Ascend P7 comes with a good quality 5 Inch IPS LCD display made crisp by 1980 x 1080 pixels spread across it. The phone is protected by Gorilla Glass on both sides. Colors, viewing angles and brightness are very good in the same league as other high end smartphones.

If you compare this to other phones in the list, Gionee Elife E7 (5.5 Inch), Sony Xperia Z2 (5.2 Inch) and LG G2 (5.2 Inch) offer slightly bigger displays, but quality wise these are all pretty good display. Thanks to the slim bezels, one handed usage is comfortable.

Huawei has used its own home brewed 1.8 GHz Quad Core Cortex A9 processor, which seems to be a vast improvement from P6. The high end gaming performance and day to day performance was butter smooth. The phone did stutter a bit when several background apps were open under heavy load. Performance wise the chipset fell slightly short of Snapdragon 800 and Snapdragon 801 in other rival smartphones.

Camera and Internal Storage

The 13 MP rear camera sensor has been sourced from Sony. The camera is great in day light conditions, but performance falters under low lighting. Among the listed devices, we like the LG G2 and Elife E7 rear camera the most. It’s still one of the best camera available in this price range. The front facing camera one of the best compared to other phones on the list. The 8 MP selfie camera is a very good performer.

Huawei Ascend P7 comes with 16 GB Native storage similar to other phones in the list, and you also an SD card slot for another 64 GB expansion. Out of

Battery and Other Feature

The 2500 mAh battery can comfortably last through the day even with moderate to heavy usage. It can’t beat LG G2 in this department, but still does what you want it to. The battery backup is comparable to Xperia Z2 and HTC One M8 and a tad bit better than Gionee Elife E7.

Huawei Ascend P7 is running Android 4.4 KitKat based Emotion UI as of now. All other smartphones except for Gionee Elife E7 have been approved for Android 5.0 Lollipop upgrade. Emotion UI is rich in features and with Android 4.4 KitKat as its base, all playstore apps will be supported. Gionee Elife E7 is still running Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, which is out dated now.

Conclusion

Huawei Ascend P7 is a pretty decent smartphone which provides an experience analogous to other high end smartphones for a lower price. The meticulously designed phone still has its shortcomings, but it still offers great value for money at 23,193 INR from Snapdeal.
