LG G Flex 2 VS Google Nexus 6 Comparison Overview

At the CES 2015 tech show, LG announced its curved flagship smartphone called LG G Flex 2 that is packed with several enhanced features and Android Lollipop platform. It is Google’s Nexus 6 that is the first smartphone to feature the Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled and the rest of the existing flagship devices are yet to receive the update. Here is a detailed comparison between the G Flex 2 and Nexus 6 to know about the smartphones in detail and to know which one is best suited for you.

Display and Processor

The G Flex 2 boasts of a 5.5 inch display that is curved as the build of the device and it boasts of a Full HD screen resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. While this is pretty impressive, the Nexus 6 comes with a 5.9 inch display with a Quad HD resolution of 2560×1440 pixels. Notably, both the panels are decent with exceptional color reproduction and decent viewing angles, but the Quad HD panel on the Nexus 6 is definitely better and also viewable from extreme angles.

On the raw hardware front, LG G Flex 2 is equipped with a 64 bit octa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor that will put the 64 bit computing to use. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 comes with a 32 bit quad core Snapdragon 805 processor ticking at 2.7 GHz clock speed. Of course, the Snapdragon 810 is the most powerful chipset introduced by the chipmaker and it makes the G Flex 2 a prowess. Otherwise, the LG phone comes with 2 GB or 3 GB of RAM based on the internal storage capacity of the device, whereas the Nexus 6 is incorporated with 3 GB of RAM to handle multitasking.

Camera and Internal Storage

The G Flex 2 is given a 13 MP primary camera with dual tone LED flash, laser auto focus as in the LG G3, optical image stabilization plus and other aspects. The handset also features a 2.1 MP front facing selfie snapper for video conferencing and clicking self portrait shots. On the other hand, the Nexus 6 boasts of a similar 13 MP main camera at its back with auto focus, dual ring LED flash and optical image stabilization. Up front, there is a 2 MP selfie snapper onboard the Nexus 6.


Storage wise, the G Flex 2 comes with 32 GB of native storage support that can be expanded externally by another 128 GB with the help of a micro SD card. Going by comparison, the Nexus 6 arrive in two variants – 32 GB and 64 GB, but there is no support for additional storage onboard the models of the Nexus 6 as the device lacks a micro SD card slot.

Battery and Features

Both the G Flex 2 and Nexus 6 arrive with non-removable batteries that will be an issue when it comes to replacement of the cell. Otherwise, the Nexus 6 boasts of a better battery capacity with a 3,220 mAh battery, whereas there is a 3,000 mAh battery with Quick Charge 2.0 support operating under the hood of the LG phone.

The G Flex 2 is fueled by Android 5.0.1 Lollipop topped with Optimus UI with neat features and a similar design and look as the yesteryear flagship model LG G3. The Nexus 6 runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop preinstalled and it is the first one to arrive with the platform onboard.

On the features front, the LG G Flex 2 comes with a curved body, display and battery and features a self healing back panel that can heal its scratches in just ten seconds. Also, there is Dolby at the front and IR Blaster. On the other hand, there are dual front facing stereo speakers, a metallic frame, water resistant nano coating and wireless charging support in the Nexus 6.

The Nexus 6 is an exceptional offering from Google and already the device is swirling the market that is flooded with competitive devices. Of course, the Nexus 6 comes with good speakers, camera, display and battery making it a top notch device in the market. On the other hand, the LG G Flex 2 makes the competition tougher with its better and capable processor and a curved form factor. Also, the LG offering is more pocket friendly though it’s large as compared to the Nexus 6. The choice is likely to be based on the personal preference of the buyers.
