LG V30+ Vs OnePlus 5T: Specs, features and price comparison

South Korean giant LG has finally launched the LG V30+ in India. The company had announced the flagship LG V30 at IFA 2017 in Berlin in August and the V30+ is an upgraded storage variant which has come to India. The highlight of the LG V30+ is its full-screen OLED display and widest ever f/1.6 aperture on its camera.

The LG V30+ is priced at Rs. 44,990 in India and will be available exclusively on Amazon India starting December 18. With such competitive pricing, the LG V30+ will take on other flagship smartphones such as the recently announced OnePlus 5T. Here is how LG’s latest flagship stands against the OnePlus 5T in terms of specifications, features, and design.

Design and Display

The LG V30+ features a metal and glass design with an aluminum frame and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and rear. The front panel is a 6-inch Quad HD+ OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The back-panel sports dual rear camera setup and the fingerprint sensor. The LG V30+ is MIL-STD-810G compliant making it shockproof and it is also IP68 certified for water and dust resistance.

The OnePlus 5T also looks premium in terms of design with its aluminum frame and taller aspect ratio display. The OnePlus 5T sports a 6.01-inch optic AMOLED display with 18:9 aspect ratio offering minimum bezels on each side and it is protected by 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass. However, OnePlus 5T is neither water nor dust resistant.

Overall, the LG V30+ seems to have an upper edge because of its solid and sturdy design with protection measures.

Camera

The LG V30+ features dual rear camera setup with a 16MP primary sensor which boasts of f/1.6 aperture, the widest aperture on a smartphone yet. The wider aperture should mean the ability to capture more light and reproduce better low-light photos. The secondary 13MP sensor comes with a wider 120-degree field of view. Up front, there is a 5MP camera with f/2.2 aperture.

The OnePlus 5T also features a dual rear camera system with a 16MP primary sensor with f/1.7 aperture and a secondary 20MP sensor with same wide f/1.7 aperture. OnePlus 5T’s new dual camera system is also designed to improve low-light photography. It gets a 16MP selfie camera with f/2.0.

Comparing, the cameras, the LG V30 is the winner here because of its wide aperture, wide angle lens and other features like 3 axis OIS.

Hardware, Software, RAM, and Storage

LG V30+ is powered by Snapdragon 835 chipset. OnePlus 5T also uses the same mobile platform. However, OnePlus 5T comes with 6GB RAM or 8GB RAM and 64GB or 128GB internal storage. LG V30+ comes only with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. So, OnePlus 5T takes lead here.

Both the devices run a customized version of Android Nougat. Moreover, both the companies have promised for the Oreo update very soon. So, software wise they are not much different.

Battery

The LG V30+ houses a 3,300mAh battery with Qualcomm’s Quick Charge support. OnePlus 5T has a similar 3,300mAh battery that also supports fast charging with company’s proprietary Dash Charging technology. It claims to offer full day’s juice in 30 mins of charging.

Other features

You’ll also see some special features on LG V30+ like Voice Imprint, which lets you unlock your phone with a pre-selected voice phrase. There is also a facial-recognition feature which lets you unlock the V30+ with your face.

Similarly, there is a feature on the OnePlus 5T as ‘Face Unlock’ which is also a face recognition security system. OnePlus 5T also offers a suite of apps for various tasks and parallel apps feature.

Pricing and Availability

The LG V30+ is priced at Rs. 44,990 and will be available via Amazon India starting December 18 in Black and White color options. In comparison, the OnePlus 5T is priced at Rs. 32,999 for the 6GB RAM variant while the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage version is priced at Rs. 37,999. It is also available exclusively on Amazon India. Conclusion

So, if we conclude the entire comparison, the LG V30+ is definitely the winner in terms of design, and camera. OnePlus 5T, on the other hand, manages to beat the LG V30+ when it comes to the pricing and RAM. As for the hardware and software, both the smartphones have similar specifications and deliver more or less the same performance. Overall, the comparison between two flagships goes into OnePlus 5T’s favor which has almost the same features is priced lower than the LG V30+.
