New Moto G VS Moto G Comparison Overview

Ever Since Motorola launched its Moto G in the Indian market, the vendor has been pretty successful. New Moto G comes with a 5 inch display, whereas the Moto G flaunts a smaller 4.5 inch display. Otherwise, both the handsets pack HD resolution of 1280×720 pixels and get Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection on top. With a larger screen size, the new Moto G will have a pixel density of 294 pixels per inch instead of the 326 ppi pixel density in its predecessor. Both the handsets will render decent viewing angles with good brightness color reproduction and leaving no complaints in this regard.

In terms of raw hardware, both the smartphones are identical with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz. This processor is paired with 1 GB of RAM that can render decent levels of multi-tasking. This combination is already known for its performance in the Moto G and there should be no issues with it.

Camera and Internal Storage

The new Moto G gets an improved camera set with an 8 MP primary snapper with auto focus and ability to record HD 720p videos. Also, there is a 2 MP front-facing shooter onboard that can make video calls and click selfies. On the other hand, the Moto G comes with a 5 MP rear camera at its back and a 1.3 MP front-facing selfie camera for video conferencing.


The Moto G is available in 8 GB and 16 GB storage options, whereas the new Moto G comes with 16 GB of internal storage capacity, but the new Moto G rushes forward with support for expandable storage using a micro SD card.

Battery and Features

Both the Moto G variants employ a 2,070 mAh battery that is claimed to deliver a backup of almost one day under moderate usage. Like the Moto G, its successor is also believed to be power efficient in order to last longer than the other devices in this range.

The new Moto G is based on Android 4.4.4 KitKat and is will receive the Android L update once the iteration is made commercially available. On the other hand, the Moto G had received the Android 4.4 KitKat update shooting it up from v4.3 Jelly Bean that is pre-installed. Otherwise, both the handsets will have common connectivity aspects such as Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G.

Certainly, being an upgraded variant the new Moto G appears to be a better option over the yesteryear Moto G.
