Xolo Q600S VS Micromax Unite 2 Comparison Overview

The Indian manufacturer Xolo has come up with a very competitively priced model called the Xolo Q600S. Available for Rs.7499, the feature packed handset is aimed for the entry-level Android Smartphone market, and at devices such as the new Micromax Unite 2 and the Moto E. While users can have a look at our comparison of the Q600S with the revolutionary Moto E, in this article let us try to find out how the Xolo product stands up against another device from a more popular India based manufacturer – the Micromax Unite 2.

xolo q600s vs unite 2

Display and Processor

The Q600S comes with a 4.5 inch qHD display of 960X540 pixels with a resultant density of 245 pixels per inch. The display is decent for this price range and users can expect clear pictures with good viewing angles. In comparison, the Micromax Unite 2 comes with a larger 4.7 inch IPS display. The catch here is the lower resolution of 800X480 pixels, which gives it a comparatively lower pixel density of around 199 pixels per inch. The display thus wouldn’t be as clear as that of the Xolo device.

Q 600S has a quad core processor clocked at 1.2 GHz with a currently undisclosed chipset, and 1 GB RAM. The presence of 1 GB RAM in the device will help the device when performing multitasking and graphically intensive tasks. The Unite 2 comes with the 1.3 Ghz MediaTek MT6582 processor (most likely) with 1 GB of RAM and a Mali 400 GPU. While the Micromax device has a processor which is clocked somewhat higher, it is only marginally so and users can expect almost similar performance on paper.

Camera and Internal Storage

The devices have similar 5MP primary cameras with LED flash but the difference comes in when we consider the front camera – the Unite 2 scores one over with the presence of a 2 MP secondary camera, which is expected to perform better then the VGA unit on the Q600S.

Both devices have 4 GB internal storage, which might seem low to prospective buyers. To overcome this limitations, both devices offer a microSD card slot on the device body, which allows users to use expandable memory.

Battery and Features

Xolo Q600S and Micromax Unite 2 both come with a 2000 mAh Lithium ion battery. However, users should note that a bigger screen has higher power requirements, and the Unite 2 might just falter in this regard.

The Xolo Q600S will come with Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, with functions such as FM Radio, 3G and dual-SIM support. More software features of the device will become clear with time. The Unite 2 is Micromax’s first device to be launched with the latest Android KitKat 4.4.2 and is being touted as the world’s first Phone with ’21 languages support’. Moreover, it will come loaded with a multitude of pre-loaded applications such as MAd, Getit, Hike, Kingsoft Office etc.

Price and Conclusion

The Micromax Unite 2 is available for Rs.6999 and the Q600S is available for Rs. 7499. Both of these devices have been launched to compete with the Moto E in the price segment. As such, these devices are feature packed and yet very affordable. However, with a marginally faster processor, bigger screen and a better secondary camera, Unite 2 has some advantages over the Q600s, whereas the Xolo device will have much better display quality in comparison to the Micromax smartphone. What is to be noted is that both these devices are very capable and in the end, it is the user which gains through this competition.
