Yureka VS Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G Comparison Overview

After creating huge anticipation among tech enthusiasts and media, Micromax announced its first Yu smartphone called Yureka today for a pricing of Rs 8,999. The Cyanogen OS based smartphone carries impressive specifications for its reasonable pricing. While this device is slated to go on sale in the country in the second week of January via Amazon, another device that is also slated to enter the Indian smartphone arena is the Xiaomi Redmi 4G costing Rs 9,999. Here is a detailed comparison between the two to known which one is better.

Display and Processor

Both the devices are given identical 5.5 inch IPS displays that carry HD screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels that result in a pixel density of 267 pixels per inch making them usable. Furthermore, both the screens are layered with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection as well. When compared side by side, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4g seemed to have better colors.

In terms of raw hardware, the Micromax offering is energized by 64 bit octa core Snapdragon 615 SoC with Adreno 405 graphics unit and 2 GB of RAM. In compartison, the Redmi Note 4G employs a 1.6 GHz quad core Snapdragon 400 processor that is backed by Adreno 305 graphics engine and 2 GB of RAM. While the latter comes with integrated LTE support, the 64 bit computing SoC in the former is more power efficient and supports more memory.

Camera and Internal Storage

Both the devices feature 13 MP primary cameras accompanied with LED flash and f/2.2 aperture to render better performance even under low light conditions. Also, there is support for shooting FHD 1080p videos. In addition, both arrive with 5 MP front facing selfie cameras to capture self portrait shots and for video conferencing. However, the Micromax Yureka gets more credits as it comes with a blue filter that will balance the light intensity and comes with Exmor lens for improved performance.


The Yureka bundles 16 GB of internal storage capacity, whereas Xiaomi smartphone packs 8 GB of storage space. However, they can be expanded externally by another 32 GB and 64 GB respectively using micro SD card slots.

Battery and Features

There is a 2,500 mAh battery in the Micromax Yureka, whereas the Redmi Note 4G is given a 3,100 mAh battery with fast charging technology. It is claimed by Micromax that the platform is optimized to render a better backup to the smartphone.

While the Yureka is based on Cyanogen OS, the Redmi Note 4G runs Android KitKat based on MIUI. The former is better in the Yureka as it comes with Themes support and it is a power packed and capable UI. While the Redmi Note 4G is a single SIM device, the Yureka is a dual SIM one.

Price and Conclusion

When it comes to pricing, both the smartphones are pretty affordable, but the Micromax smartphone is a new one in the lot. It features high end aspects such as 64 bit processing and a customizable UI based on Cyanogen OS for its pricing that makes it stand out against the competition. The handset comes with enhanced preferences for security that is a growing concern among smartphone users. While both could be excellent value for money offerings, the Yureka would be a better buy for those geeks who like experimenting.
