Physical Overview

The Gionee S6 Pro is a well built smartphone. Featuring a unibody metallic design, the S6 Pro comes with a minimalist design with familiar antenna bands on the backside. We received the Gold colour and it looks good in real. Have a glance at the image gallery above to get an idea of how it looks in real life.

Display

The Gionee S6 Pro comes with a 5.5 inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels. It comes with a pixel density of ~401 PPI. In our time testing the device, we found the display to be good in terms of colour reproduction, accuracy and brightness.

S6 Pro (10)

While 1080p displays have become a common thing in smartphones these days – with phones across different price ranges featuring full HD displays, the price point for the S6 Pro, coupled with the rest of the specs is quite justified.

Gaming Performance

The Gionee S6 Pro comes with a octa-core Mediatek Helio P10 processor, coupled with a Mali-T860MP2 GPU. It also comes with 4 GB RAM to help with multitasking and gaming. However, at its price, you can find competing phones with far better specs – the Xiaomi Mi 5, OnePlus 3, Lenovo Z2 Plus – all come with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820.

In comparison, the Gionee S6 Pro’s mid-range processor is a let down, especially considering the price. In our testing with games like Clash of Clans, Candy Crush to complex games like Asphalt 8 – the S6 Pro’s performance was average. For a phone that is competing with the likes of Mi 5, OnePlus 3 and Z2 Plus, the Gionee S6 Pro leaves us wishing it was better.

Conclusion

The Gionee S6 Pro is a good phone that seems to cost a little more than it should, considering the specs and real life performance. The weaker processor and the higher price hold the phone back. Otherwise, in our testing so far, we have found it to be an adequate device. The phone comes with Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box with Amigo UI 3.2. Support for dual SIM, 4G LTE with VoLTE and 4 GB RAM with 64 GB internal storage are other good features of the phone. However, at Rs. 23,499, it may not work out well in India, given the fierce competition in the market.
