Update: Lenovo has launched the 3G variant of the tablet dubbed Lenovo A7-30 3G for a price tag of Rs 9,999. While all the specifications of the tablet remains identical to the 2G variant, the latest offering comes with 16 GB of storage capacity.
China based Lenovo seems to be very aggressive in capturing a huge segment of the budget device tablet market. A strong evidence for the same is the frequent launch pattern that the vendor is following lately. Earlier this month, Lenovo A7-50 with 3G voice calling support entered sale for Rs 15,499 and so soon the company has released another model Lenovo A7-30 via its online store for a price of Rs 9,979. Now, let us take a look at the specifications of this tablet in detail to analyze its capabilities.
Camera and Internal Storage
Being a low-end budget tablet, the Lenovo A7-30 is given pretty average camera capabilities but it is not a surprise among the budget devices. The tablet features a 2 MP primary snapper for basic photography and a VGA front-facing camera to assist in making video calls. Though this may seem to be disappointing, we cannot expect high-end camera features from a sub Rs 10,000 priced slate.
On the storage front, the tablet appears to be acceptable with a standard 8 GB of internal storage space. The Lenovo A7-30 is fitted with an average 7 inch IPS capacitive touch screen display that boasts of a screen resolution of 1024×600 pixels. While the screen size and resolution are nothing different from the other low-end budget tablets, the incorporation of IPS technology will enable it in rendering excellent viewing angles and color contrast.
The tablet runs on the dated Android 4.2 Jelly Bean OS instead of the latest iteration – Android 4.4 KitKat. However, considering its low price tag this should not be of great concern.
On the connectivity front, the tablet supports 2G voice calling via SIM card and 3G only via dongle. There are other standard connectivity aspects such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and GPS as well onboard.

The Lenovo A7-30 is priced reasonably at Rs 9,979 in order to give a tough competition to the other tablets in the same price bracket. However, it appears like Lenovo has missed out on certain aspects just to keep the pricing low. Well, the device could have come a solid offering in the sub Rs 10,000 price range only if it had incorporated enhanced photography functionalities such as improved sensors with LED flash at the rear for better low light performance. Also, the lack of a 3G SIM card slot is a major downside for those seeking 3G voice calling feature.
