Physical Overview

It looks like prominent tech manufacturers have put their focus on built and design of their mid-range smartphones. We have seen this with Nokia’s new lineup and Moto G5 also reflects the same. With high-quality diamond-cut aluminum chassis, Moto G5’s design is in line with the high-end models of the company. The first glance will give you the feel of well built and the next noticing factor is the smaller screen. The G4 was equipped with a 5.5-inch display that somewhere pushed the smartphone to the phablet territory.

This time, the manufacturer has changed its strategy and introduced a smaller screen, a 5-inch display but, with this, it is compact and feels a lot more comfortable. The metal design further makes everything smooth and refined.

Moto G5

At the front, the phone features a 5-inch display with Moto branding on the top. The top also features the front camera and ambient light sensor. Below the screen, there is a fingerprint sensor.

At the back, the uniform metal body features big rounded 13MP camera and LED flash with Moto logo just below it.

The top features a 3.5mm audio jack

On the bottom, the primary mic and micro-USB port is placed.

On the right, volume rocker along with lock button are placed. Whereas, the left side is a plain metal surface.

Display

The Moto G5 features a 5-inch display with full-HD resolution (1920 X 1080 pixels) which looks vibrant and sharper. The screen is further protected by Gorilla Glass 3. The G5 display offers a pixel density of ~440 ppi.

Hardware

Moto G5 is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430, 1.4 GHz Cortex- A53 processor which is further coupled to a 2GB RAM and 32GB internal storage. The storage can be further enhanced via microSD up to 128GB. This time, Moto has reduced the battery size a bit, which is a 2800 mAh. But, with a smaller screen size, the battery life will not be affected as much.

Software

Lenovo has opted Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box for Moto G5. The user interface is similar to stock Android with slight differences. The G5 is all geared up with Google Assistance and is also equipped with Moto Experience app.

Camera Overview

At the back, Moto G5 features a 13MP camera with an aperture of f/2.2. The rear camera also features autofocus and phase detection. Whereas, at the front, a 5MP wide-angle camera is equipped that gives better results while clicking selfies. There are also additional features in the camera app which include best photo and professional mode but, there is not much for the user to play with.

Price And Availability

The Moto G5 will be available in Lunar Grey and Fine Gold color options. The Moto G5 is priced at 199 Euros (Rs 14,000 approximately) and is expected to arrive in India by this June. Just like any other Moto phone, the G5 will be available through online retailers.

Conclusion

Moto has impressed the users with its G series for quite a long time. The Moto G5 specs, look and design are promising, which makes it a super package at an affordable price. With a refreshed design and the key features carried forward from Moto G4, the G5 holds the potential of becoming a segment leader. The rest will be told when the phone makes it market entry and compete against its rivals.
