Build Quality, Design and Form Factor

Xolo A600 being a budget price smartphone has a great build quality which you might not have seen on other similar price range phones, In terms of looks, it  looks quite premium for the price at this which it comes. The design of the phone is nothing exceptional but it looks great and the quality of the plastic used on the back cover is also good and its a good fit. It has also got matte finish on the back cover with light texture which gives a firm grip of the phone when you hold it in one of your hand. The form factor of the phone is good, but its not very slim but slim in comparison to other phones in the same price segment, weight of the device is also light.

Camera Performance

IMG_1894

The rear camera is 5 MP but has auto focus and can also record HD videos at 720p but the overall photo quality is just average in low light, however day light shots looked much better. The front camera is VGA but its capable of doing a video chat, but details and clarity is not that great, but it can used with skype and hangout.

Display, Memory and Battery Backup

It has 4.5 inch IPS TFT capacitive touch screen with 540 x 960 qHD resolution which gives you a pixel density of 245 pixels per inch which does make it decent in terms of clarity and crispness, however the viewing angles are not great but the phone display can be read from wide angles, but the color saturation of the display is not too good and sunlight visibility is just average but it can be read at high brightness. In built memory of the phone is 4 Gb out of which around 2.4 GB is available to the user. But limited storage on this phone is not a big problem as you have the option to install games and apps on the SD card as well, by selecting it as default storage. The battery is 2000 mAh which seems to be quite sufficient for this 4.7 inch  720p display as you will get around 1 day of backup with moderate usage which does not include extensive game play and video watching, but extensive app usage and internet browsing on the phone.

Software, Benchmarks and Gaming

The software UI is almost stock android with very little amount of customizations in the form of some apps like Lava care, overall the interface is snappy and faster. It can handle casual games like Temple Run Oz, Temple Run 2 and Subway Surfer quite nicely and medium graphic games like Frontline commando can also be played without much graphic lag but heavy games like MC4 and Nova 3 may get installed only on SD card and they can also be played on it.

Benchmark Scores

  • Quadrant Standard Edition: 3445
  • Antutu Benchmark: 10554
  • Nenamark2: 38.1 fps
  • Multi Touch: 2 points

Sound, Video and Navigation

It has loudspeaker on the back side which will get blocked at times when the device placed on its back, however the loudness of the sound from the loudspeaker is loud enough but not the loudest we have heard. The video playback for HD videos is supported on the device, you can play 720p videos without any audio or video sync issues, for unsupported video formats you can use third party apps like MX Player and BS Player. It can also be used for GPS Navigation however it does not have magnetic compass sensor, but GPS navigation on this device will still work with the help of assisted GPS.

What We Liked

  • Great build quality
  • Auto Focus camera

What We Did Not Liked

  • No OTG
  • Average Camera

Conclusion and Price

Xolo A600 considering the specs is quite decent value for money phone, it is available for a price of  Rs. 7500 INR approx. It comes with decent hardware config like 1.3 Ghz Dual core processor and 512 MB of RAM which gives it decent speed of performance in day to day usage, but definitely this phone is not supposed to be loaded with lots of apps otherwise it will slow down. In all we would like to give a thumbs up as it looks like a pretty decent choice in the value for money department as per us.
