Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge Launched In India At INR 48,900 and INR 56,900

South Korean electronics manufacturer Samsung has finally released its flagship Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge in India today. The phone was unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2016 last month, and this time, Samsung has added the always on display, IP68 certification and Dual Pixel autofocus technology. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are launched at a price of INR 48,900 and INR 56,900 respectively. Pre-orders start from today to 17th March. It will be available for purchase from 18th March onward, and those who pre-book any of the device will get the Samsung Gear VR free with the handset but the offer is valid only if you book on Samsung official website and selected Samsung stores.

Samsung Galaxy S7 has a similar design compared to last year’s Galaxy S6 but this time, it looks sleeker and classier. Other than this, Samsung has added IP68 certification, which adds waterproofing and makes it dust-proof too. Thankfully Samsung has added the missing micro SD card slot which adds on to the value of both the smartphones.

The Galaxy S7 sports a 5.1 inch Super AMOLED display, which is .4 inches lesser than the Galaxy S7 Edge. Both the phones have has Quad HD resolution (1440×2560) display with always on display technology. Always on display allows the users to keep a check on time, notifications and battery status without waking the device up.

Under the hood, it uses its home-grown Exynos 8890 octa-core (2.3GHz quad-core + 1.6GHz quad-core) processor. Both of them offer 4 GB of RAM which is now standard in the most of the top-end flagship handsets. Both the Galaxy S7 models will be available only in 32 GB storage variant. Both the smartphones offer expandable storage up to 200 GB using a micro SD card.

On the camera front, both the smartphones sport a 12 MP ‘Dual-Pixel’ camera with a f/1.7 aperture and smart OIS feature on the back. On the front, it has a 5 MP camera, also with f/1.7 aperture. These set of cameras are expected to be the best cameras in any smartphone currently, it comes with the latest Dual-pixel autofocus technology which is used only in the S7 camera till now.

The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge come with Android Marshmallow out of the box, which is the latest version of Android. The connectivity options include, 4G LTE with category9, USB 3.0 standard, NFC, Bluetooth 4.2, and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. Both the models support MST payment technologies, house a fingerprint sensor.

To light up the Galaxy S7, Samsung has used a 3000 mAh battery, with support for fast charging with wired charging and wireless charging as well. The Galaxy S7 Edge has a bigger 3600 mAh battery, with same fast and wireless charging features. Both the smartphones will offer three colour variants- Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium.
