HMD-Global led Nokia has proved another time that they are serious about the fast updates promise. The Nokia 8 is now receiving the latest Android 8.1 Oreo update. While this brings the latest Android, we will get to see some other minor improvements too.

The company rolled out the beta programme for Android 8.1 Oreo on the Nokia 8 a couple of weeks ago. Now, the phone is receiving the stable update, becoming one of the first non-Google devices to get the update. Juho Sarvikas, Chief Product Officer at HMD Global tweeted about the update.

Nokia 8 Android 8.1 Oreo update

For the uninitiated, Android 8.1 Oreo is the latest update to the Android ecosystem. Currently limited to a few devices, the update is now coming for the Nokia flagship. While there are little cosmetic changes, there is a lot of background refinement that comes with the update.

Android Developers blog says that Android 8.1 Oreo gets improved Autofill framework. The Notifications are also more finely tuned with refinements to alert sounds and their timing. Other than these noticeable refinements, other changes are made on the developer’s end.

This means that developers get a more polished Android ecosystem to work on. You can check out the entire changeling here. Getting back to Nokia 8, the device is the current flagship of the Finnish brand. It equips a 5.3-inch IPS-LCD panel with 1440 x 2560p resolution.

The Nokia 8 packs Dual 13MP rear cameras with Carl Zeiss optics and also features a single 13MP front-facing camera. These cameras come with Bothie feature that lets you use the rear and front camera to make a video or click an image simultaneously. Equipped with a Snapdgragon 835 processor, the phone gets up to 6GB RAM and up to 128GB internal storage along with a microSD card slot.

Fitted with a 3,090 mAh battery, the Nokia 8 can last a full day of moderate usage. The device features Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C connector, and a 3.5mm earphone jack as basic connectivity options.
